Pandora's box is opened on mtx just coexisting in games now. This has bleed into everything because of how much money it rakes in for minimal effort and even at the detriment of long term game health. You can see it in almost every publisher these days. This isn't even just a runescape problem, it's an industry problem. I don't think gamers have a chance of fighting back against it anymore.

If those same players spent the 6 months on their mains farming high level content for gp/items they would make 100x the amount than trying to do it on the fresh start worlds. It's really not gonna be a big deal. Maybe some graphs might spike here or there, that's about it.

Coming from someone that has a trimmed comp account. I'm going to play the new server to try the enhanced faster lvling version of the game. Eventhough it's not Leagues like OSRS, the account being retained after the 6 months is over is pretty cool. The new account can then be an alt for doing things such as clues, afk money makers etc, while i work on other goals on my main account (master quest cape/ all best in slot gear). High scores and caring about other people's microtransactions will ruin the experience for you. It's not an iron man account, play it with a goal in mind and you might enjoy it, or who knows it might still be trash... we'll see in little less than a month.

I have an accout at 2600ish total level and im gona get into that game mode just because I love the fresh start on a brand new economy! Will probably make a main there and another account just for alt gathering supply like mining/archeo/fishing and other stuff. Currently making a plan on how im gonna approach this. Probably gona do like i did with my Ironman since there gona be ne economie at start and go mainly mage first! I think farming will be probably be one of the most profitable skill to get up mainly for the Powder of burial! Everyone will want high prayer level quick

I find that after reaching lv 70 in a skill the game is too boring to want to play it. After 70 the amount of time I have to invest is disproportionate to the reward the game gives me when I play it. I'm also being generous when I say 70, some skills like farming, summoning or divination for example loss their charm after lv 30.

To play devil's advicate kind of a good thing for people to have to pay a separate membership. Imagine if everyone could do it then they bring those accounts to the main game. All the items farmed and rare drops flooding the main game. I personally don't see at least the 1st month being effected with bonds that much. You'll need to pay with IRL money for the first couple weeks. I've been "F2P" for 9 years, membership with bonds.

it wasn't runescape specifically who came out with this. One of the 4 companies whose bought runescape since 2001 did. Problem is the same can be said with party hats. People decided to hoard an item that just gained value. A level 3 could have hoarded party hats and suddenly they became the richest.

I think a better analogy instead of comparing to real life cars and Lamborghinis, is if someone were to make a deal with the devil to unlock increased training speed and capacity in the gym. By a snap of the devil's fingers, they can train harder, longer, faster and receive x4 the benefits of the people who didn't make that deal. I think it's fair to say that's not something that should be respectable, and I'd rather hope that God, in this context, Jagex, simply cast the devil away entirely. Unfortunately, it seems like Jagex has been corrupted and have become el diablo themselves.

Does it mean after 6 months when you bring your character into main game it keeps all the levelling you have done? Sounds broken if you can get 120s with triple xp and then bring it over. The whales will be beaching themselves and jagex will be rolling in gp. I did 120 dungeoneering with lamps, it took a year though using the free lamps.

@@lasersharks hmmm, sounds wrong to me. It devalues the time people put into their 200mills if people can use bonus rates to get there faster. Then again, they should never have put lamps and stars in the game to start with imo. I'm OK with cosmetics as optional purchases but buying xp never feels right to me in any game. I expect lots of high end items will crash then there's a massive influx of them to main game after 6 months is up 😬

I feel like people are just getting salty over nothing serious at this point in RS3 maxing is so laughably easy that it means nothing we have 50+ pages of people at max xp so speeding up xp isn't any big deal also like the items bought into the main game arguement is pretty redundant because its not like drop rates are increased so there is still going to be people needing to get the levels then farm those drops so we're not going to have servers full of people outfitted with ZGS etc the average player still needs to learn the bosses etc and farm those drops and food

1. target audience is new players and returnees? how else will all these new players hear about this new mode coming in under a months time but through your current player base. i wouldn't try a game if the current player base calls it trash/has bad ratings 2. In order to play Fresh Start Worlds, you'll need to create a brand new RuneScape account with Membership. osrs is allowing f2p and without mtx, why cant rs3 do this? so all the new and returning players have to buy membership to play? allow free to play as well even if it means reduced exp rates. 3. the first 8 weeks are going to be fun and engaging because of the race for rank 1... and then mtx is allowed and anyone grinding will immediately be beaten out by anyone with a credit card. 4. letting accounts transfer over is a huge mistake, especially **letting them take all their resources**. you just let thousands of people with 20% increased drop rates bring over items, this includes bots! new players will come into the main game and immediately be put off by prices and exp rates since they were used to high end rates. 5. pushing players into mid-end game right away when they don't even know how to play the game at all is just asking for bad reviews and people quitting. its been stated before that the learning curve in game is steeper then it should be. 6. you don't expect players to max in 4months? the average player should easily be able to max at least combat in that time with enhanced exp, new boons, and extra drops speeding up their training. the hardcore players will be at the end game by the end of 3months farming boss drops and slayer drops to bring back into the main game. 7. bonds. they wont be worth 50m you say since the economy is fresh? the GP itself will be way more valuable, and be able to purchase more with less Ignoring the fact that knowing the games will merge at the end of the four months, and all the bonds can be traded into the main game afterwards. some solutions players were trying to come up with include - -turn the fresh start world into a beta server afterwards. -delay fresh start worlds until the new launcher is finished! this will allow the same account to be used just like linking osrs and rs3 accounts. to go along with this perhaps premiere club members can have their membership port over. -create a new team of trusted players have them sign an nda and allow them to playtest/qa these kinds of things.

I think you're missing the point on what the biggest issue is. Weeks 9-16 don't matter competitively. Bonds starting day 1 is the issue. They're legalizing the ability to pay to win in a competition essentially.

Bonds won't be worth nothing on a new economy where literally every account paid for membership. There will be a huge supply with no demand and a economy full of level 20s lol. Be lucky if you get a few hundred k for a bond. I don't see that as much of a advantage

I'm a mobile player cuz of portable and cheaper and I have more opportunities to use it and if you have problems at home or you have roommates you don't fully trust cuz you cent afford own one person room that's safe and you pay for one and cheaper internet and it's more fair if you play on same performance or similar high end with others...

The whole idea is just bad. I'm giving my age a bit but I'm an og RS classic player from way back in the day and that's all you had. Rs3 and this new mode is catering to the gen z players who want to play a grindy game without having to do any of the grind. Mico transactions was and is the killing blow to RS. In the new mode it's even worse because you can simply buy the top spot and makes the whole thing not worth competing in. Why grind to get it stolen from you in the end deal. If the account and gear is mergable to the main game and you think there already is an econ problem in rse this will destroy the economy with a flood of gear and resources. It's just all around a big f u to the main game players. That's just my thoughts on it

I think this is a huge mistake. I agree you shoukd focus on your own accomplishments but when something like this is being thrown in your face it's hurts the general player. Even if someone has only been playing since steam release, this makes so much of what they've done trivial. I don't think these accounts should come to the live game, and should NOT affect live hiscores. I’m a completionist Ironman, this affects me less than most but I still am extremely against this.

Whales is a term from gambling, throughout history whaling (the practice of hunting whales and killing them) is very profitable, the blubber ect from a whale carcass was (is?) used in a bunch of different things such as perfume. So killing a whale in gambling means getting a lot of $$$. This is a two fold meaning in gaming, game companies divide player bases into terms such as minnows- people who pay very little or none at all aside from buying the inital game, sharks- players who buy mtx occasionally but not consistently, and whales- players who buy mtx by the truckload and do it at every new release. For a company it's simple- cater to the whales. The minnows and sharks complain? who cares one whale is worth 10's-100s of them. You could call a whale a cash cow but cash cow has a different meaning generally. It's something that you can repeatedly go back to and "milk" for cash. When someone is referring to a cash cow its usually like a company or such EX: RS3 is a cash cow because the company keeps coming back and milking it for more cash thru mtx practices.

Ill admit I've used micros to lvl up.. I do it on skills I hate, once I get to 90-92 then it becomes more of a chore than fun, so I use micros to get that 99. The more enjoyable part is going from 99-120 where I don't use micros. It's weird, but that's what I do. I don't care what other people think because at the end of the day it's my account & I play how I want to play. I play by myself 90% of the time because it's my way of relaxing. I also work night shift and don't have much time to play as I work long hours.. finish work, spend time with family, eat, sleep then repeat.

The way I see it if runescape is a company, they have to make money. This doesn't affect me at all, who cares. If I takes stuff like this and dumb asses paying 15k irl to be top 20 on a virtual leader board to keep a game alive for me to play that I love then so be it. I'll be number 21. The struggle of spiteful and jealous thoughts are def consuming the RuneScape fan base. Someone can pay to get high scores in the game mode? Ok? Good for them. Doesn’t affect how you did your way. If RuneScape needs the money that bad, they can keep mtx, even with the new game mode. But as soon as you make a transaction, you are in a different category in the game mode with different high score pools with other people who made a transaction. Basically you get put into 2 groups. You enter mtx group by making a transaction

I mainly play osrs with the same account that I played the main RuneScape on. I actually like this game mode because I would love to have another account so I can play both at the same time. I don’t really have the time / think it’s worth doing without an xp boost because my account is basically maxed besides the new skills. With this I think it’s a good idea but they probably should take high scores out of it. I understand that people will just buy xp because that’s what I intend todo because I think my time is just more valuable and I have the money to spare. Tbh good idea remove all Mtx before 8 weeks, end the high scores there then add mtx. Don’t really care about the new account thing to me because I’ll have to make one anyway but I also wouldn’t have played leagues if I had to make a new account.

I don't really see the problem, to be honest. Standard accounts still have access to dxp events, there's bonus xp, and there's the occasional stars, lamps, and proteans you get without even spending a dime. If you have an issue with someone else fast-tracking their gains when it doesn't affect you in any way, then idk, that sounds like a you problem. There's no real reason to care. And there's no reason to feel like you're above anyone else, neither. It's a game after all. Just have fun. It doesn't matter what everyone else is doing. I'll just continue to enjoy playing on my main account and not even think twice.
