We purchased a Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub. Here's how it works, what it looks like, and how to set it up easily. You can fit four adults in this spa comfortably, and it will heat water up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Amazon affiliate link: amzn.to/3We096b
#colemanspa #saluspa #inflatablespa
This is also sold under the name Bestway Saluspa. In the summer, don't turn the heater on and cool off in an oversized kiddie pool! Total weight of the spa and pump is about 80 pounds. 240 gallons of water x 8 pounds a gallon is about a ton gross weight (plus humans), so be aware of that fact when considering putting the Coleman Spa on a deck or raised patio.
Comes complete with a heater, filter, chlorine tablet dispersement unit, and a cover. Also works to clean crawfish, but please don't use your filter for that.

We bought a SECOND one on Amazon during Prime Day. Enjoying this so much, we wanted to have a backup heater/pump and inflatable just in case something happens. The pump has a 1 year warranty through Bestway. Friends of ours used the warranty service and received an entire new pump/heater within two weeks of their warranty claim! Thank you for putting this video together. I have had two spas. I lost the first in a flood, but it ran great until it was submerged, then stopped running so great. I live in SE lower Michigan. I have an unfinished basement. I have an area known as the “coal bin”. It’s where coal was stored back when coal was used to heat the house. Tt’s 7 (213 CM) x 11 (335 CM). My spa fits inside. I don’t take the cover off entirely. I take the inflatable part out and set it to the side, then fold the cover back on itself. I do get some water leaking if I’m not careful. As for additional moisture? I ran a hygrometer for two weeks and noted a 2% increase in that room over 14 days. No mold growing in the rafters after 4 years of running this and the other unit. I leave the heater on 24x7. My electric is $40-$45 more per month. Similar to what I would see when I run window air conditioners to cool the second floor of my house. Central air struggles on days over 88F (31C). One window unit helps, but adds close to $50 more per month. Thank you again. Take care.

Sounds like a perfect arrangement! Your electric bill increase is about the same as ours, but we don't leave it on 24/7. We run it 4 days on 3 days off and change the water once every three or four weeks. Do you have a drain in that room?

We just set ours up using your video, Thank you!! Questions: 1. How much did your power bill go up? 2. How often are you changing the water? 3. How often do you change filters?
@FreshandFelicia
@FreshandFelicia Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your note! To address your questions: 1. The first month is always the craziest because you'll heat it and probably use it every other day. Our Florida power bill increased about $100 to $150 that month. But it was super hot during June here, so some of that might have been excess cooling. But, see (2)... 2. Our first week, we did not run the filter daily, just when we used it. The water turned murky and green after about a week, so we dumped it and refilled. We then ran the filter (not the heater) every day to keep the chlorine circulating and kept the water for about a month. It still looked and tested well, but as a precaution, we dumped it. 3. With heavy use, we needed to change the filter weekly. Lots of hair, skin, people stuff in there. With lighter use, we got two to three weeks out of a filter. They're cheap and easy to change. Enjoy!

Thanks! The pump/heater are fairly quiet, but on an apartment patio, it definitely would produce some sort of vibration. Also factor in the weight of 240 gallons of water. There’s only one speed setting on the pump, as well as the bubbles. It’s all on or off. I am investigating alternative pumps and will post something here as soon as I get some reliable feedback.

Brought it back out, added a little air, and it's up and running perfectly.

Safe to put in garage? Also outlet worries? What kinda outlet is safe? How much does this raise your electric bill?
@FreshandFelicia
@FreshandFelicia 2 күн бұрын
@@zacserrer8178 1. If your garage drains well it’s probably ok 2. Use a dedicated GFI circuit if possible. There is built in GFI on the plug, but use GFI anyway. 3. Recessed outlets are a problem - you’ll need extenders. 4. Electricity usage depends on starting temp and how many times you use it monthly. From 80-ish here in FL, even in winter months, using it 3x a week, our electric bill went up about $50 a month.

Hi, do you need the pump (bubbles) running while is trying to heat up the water?
@FreshandFelicia
@FreshandFelicia Жыл бұрын
Another great question. No, the air bubbles are completely independent from the water pump and heating system. As a matter of fact, if you run the bubbles, it may actually produce a cooling effect. So all you need to do is run the pump and the heater to heat it up. You can’t run the heater without the water circulating pump. The bubbles are just for fun. And they’re pretty amazing!

Great questions! Remove the external drain cap that may be attached to a standard garden hose, and pull the plastic drain plug inside the spa, and empty away. It takes our spa about 45 minutes to drain completely. If you routinely use chlorine tablets, run the filter daily, change the filter when dirty, and monitor the water with test strips, it is possible to keep the water clean and safe for several weeks. We have gone about 8 weeks without replacing the water while running the filter 24/7 and adding chemicals when necessary.

How much bromine or chlorine do you use or seem to go through? It has an electric saver feature but how does that affect the water ?
@FreshandFelicia
@FreshandFelicia Жыл бұрын
Great questions. We have heard some horror stories about bromine, to the point where it is actually illegal to use it in spas in Canada. Why it’s still legal in the US is a question. So we typically use one or two chlorine tablets, the small 1” ones that fit in the circulation system that comes with the spa. They last about a week at high temperatures. And we have also found after a $500 electric bill (which seems normal because everybody uses these frequently the first month) you have to run the filter pump at least every other day to circulate the water - or you may end up with a big green moldy mess! We did some research and many companies recommend that if you don’t run the pump daily like we did, draining the spa at least once a month, some say every couple of weeks, will help avoid potentially dangerous chlorine and bromine-resistant bacterial growth. Not gonna lie - this thing takes some work. But it feels so amazingly relaxing!

How does the drain work?
@FreshandFelicia
@FreshandFelicia Жыл бұрын
We’re actually going to do a maintenance video showing this. But in the meantime, it’s got a recessed, flat, soft silicone-ish pull plug on the bottom floor inside the spa that leads to a plastic tube that you can connect to a standard garden hose and drain it anywhere you need to. Don’t worry, it’s almost impossible to pull it accidentally, and the external black plastic tube also has a threaded cap on it just in case. They really thought of everything! It works best when it’s gravity fed but you could siphon it to get it going if you’re on a weird incline. Hope this helps!

Can u use bromine instead of chlorine
@FreshandFelicia
@FreshandFelicia 6 ай бұрын
You absolutely can. But after finding out that bromine is illegal for consumer use in Canada, we got a little scared and decided to go with chlorine. Concerned we’ve never heard anything about the dangers of bromine here in the states.

Prime Day #2 is coming in October! It’s definitely worth $500, but if you can wait, you might get it for under $400 like we did. We actually bought 2 so we have a backup 😎

I'm posting this question on different Coleman spa reviews to see if anyone can give an asnswer: Q: Is anyone having issues with their spa deflating over a few days' time? Slow leakage is common for may inflatable products, but these shoud be able to withstand someone checking their balance with a hand along the rim, without the water nearly spilling out. I have a large hand piston pump for inflatables that I use to top it up, but it's only two weeks old and the leak seems to be getting faster. I know: spray soapy water all over and look for bubbles. I was just wondering if this is well known, or whatever... Thanks. I'm asking because the Bestway site is useless, IMO.

@@John-d7p no air leakage here, over a year in service. They do include a patch kit.

@@FreshandFelicia I have the kit, but I was wondering if others were experiencing this slow death thing. I placed the tub on smooth pavers with sand grout, so no sharps. Plus it's sitting on a heavy duty polytarp. When I change the water in August, I'll place it on a 2" rigid foam insulation platform. If I can't locate the leak, I'll check it agian with no water in it so I can move it around and check the bottom of the ring. I'll mix up some dish detergent and start spraying all the seams and weldments around the pipes. No leak to the tub interior. Gotta be something extremely minor. We love the tub.

@@FreshandFelicia It's safe to leave the heater running for that long? I would get worried about it starting a fire.

I winterized mine after the first season. Setting it back up every gasket on inside of tub connecting has failed and will not reinflate. I tried connecting to a Coleman representative and they asked for a five dollar charge per question online. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Ours is still perfect, but we don't have winters here in the South. As much as we use it and considering how inexpensive it is compared to the $15k fiberglass spas we looked at, we figured even if it tanks once a year, it's still worth $300-$400 a year to replace it. Still recommend it.
