A LL nuance for folks to consider. Book your Indiana Jones as you want, but if you get to the scan point and see there is no outside standby line MODIFY your Indiana LL to a different ride and go standby on Indiana. Keep that cool down clock rolling and always be holding an active LL.

That MultiPass you got when Roger Rabbit closed works on any rides at any time. It would have been much more worthwhile to go into standby since the ride just opened and save the MultiPass for another ride.

Yeah even the CM suggested he go standby, but I think he wanted to film how LL walks right onto the ride vehicle. But yeah, MEP usage is a huge part of lightning lane strategy. He should have been booking as soon as he saw that roger rabbit was closed

look at you, managing the park and llmp like an out-of-towner and not-so-frequent visitor!!! this is what the rest of us have to do every time. we typically rope drop fantasyland the first day, then rope drop space mt., matterhorn and big thunder or rotr the next day so we can use ll for them later (well, not rotr) and get to ride twice. we never rope drop indiana jones or rotr because they are so often down first thing in the morning. it’s all a puzzle you have to put together throughout the day. it can be fun, but also exhausting, especially when you go from rope drop to close. looks like you lucked out with a slower day. great video. thanks, dave!

You inspired me to try this. Thursday 11/21/24 I rode every ride in Disneyland (no monorail or Main Street vehicles but I did ride the train). No lightning lane, but I did use single rider where available. Big Thunder was closed but I had plenty of time to do it if it had been open. The Park was open 8am-midnight. Got lucky enough to score Tiana’s virtual queue at 7am and HM at noon. The gods were with me. I am not a local, this was my first time in the parks since 2021. Thanks for the inspiration.

22:21 Main reason to book Indiana Jones LL first thing in the morning before rope drop is to try and get a Multiple Experience Pass if Indy has a delayed opening. If not, bump it to a later return time like David did with Space Mountain and use standby lines for the first hour+.

Not all the way done with this video so you might have mentioned this already. There is the strategy of modifying and pushing return times to later but you sometimes end up getting burned if a ride closes or breaks down. If there is something I really want to ride on a given day, I will do it in the morning regardless of standby wait time just to make sure I catch it open. That LL becomes a burner LL and wasted but at least I got my ride in. Love this video, thanks for taking the time to film it!

So this is my strategy when I go to Disneyland.. including the 12 hour day!! Which is way I'm usually DEAD on day 2. When I go I have to maximize but also then need a vacay from my vacay afterwards. Loved the video and advice on editing LL. I would love to see how it is done as a family. Bring Liz and Sophia for all the unplanned potty breaks, snacks and melt downs (young or old). We have tried using LL when we visit from Phoenix, but it’s usually in the height of summer and with family and I just don’t get the value of it as you did today. Looking forward to your next one.

Rope dropping Fantasyland when using Lightning Lane has always been my go to strategy since the ancient times of paper Fast Pass. On a good day, by 9:30 you can have all of Fantasyland (minus Small World) done.

I definitely had a fan girl experience watching this video because you did the strategy I described in the comments of your last rope drop “fail” video. I’m sure it wasn’t a conscious or intentional adoption, but I am honored you tried my strategy nonetheless. I agree it was too light of a day to highlight the benefits of the strategy, but it still shows how efficient you can be with non-LL attractions in the morning while everyone else is doing LL attractions, that’s a key takeaway for sure. Another key take away is modifying the lightning lanes is annoying, but it takes the stress out of trying to thread the needle back and forth between LL and non-LL attractions, and it lessons the zig zagging around the park. It’s a net benefit I believe. There’s awesome value in your “Goldilocks” experiences of doing LLMP when it was too busy, then too light. Hopefully it will be just right next time! You can probably build some strategic principles around how to use lightning lane based on what kind of day it is. Suggestion: You can always monitor the lightning lane return times from home on a daily basis and correlate the times they sell out to what tier the day is. You can also determine the order they sell out in usually as well. That would be free to do! I bet there are some interesting correlations there. Maybe you can you get that data from that theme park website you use? I’d be happy to analyze it for you if you can get the data. I hypothesize that higher tier days use more LL’s because if people are willing to shell out money for a higher tier day, they probably are more likely to buy LL as well. Awesome video! A few thoughts. 1. Tom Sawyer Island is typically not considered an attraction in the traditional sense any more than Mickey and Minnie Houses or Royal Hall. However you did miss Small World which was closed, Sailing Ship Columbia closed, and Davy Crockett canoes along with Tianna’s. If you went at end of the night and showed Magic Key CM may have let you on. Still doing what you did before 8 pm is still amazing in less than 12 hours. 2. Toon Town and Fantasyland close hours before fireworks. Both Mark Twain and Columbia close before 5 pm to prepare for Fantasmic. And Davy Crockett canoes closes at sundown I believe. So you need to take that into consideration when planning your route. While these are short wait attractions you need to do them a little early or you will miss them for the day. 3. Routing is important and you did waste a lot of time walking around in circles which adds up. Maximum efficiency means balancing wait times and lightning lane activations with avoiding backtracking. 4. You would have significantly improved efficiency by paying for Rise and by utilizing single rider more. Matterhorn, Indy, Roger Rabbit, and now Tianna are high frequency break down rides so getting them done sooner rather than later is a consideration. Using all these techniques from rope drop it is possible on a moderate busy day to do every attraction at Disneyland and still have time to eat lunch and dinner as well as watch Fantasmic and fireworks all in one day. There will be pressure to get everything done by 7:30 pm which is when you need to begin staking out the best place to watch Fantasmic but if you are willing to close the park then 10 pm to midnight is an excellent time to clear all of Tomorrowland. In a pinch you could que Space Mountain or Peter Pan or Indy at 11:50 pm to maximize time.

I was there on DL for the Cast Preview of Tiana's with my friend the Cast Member! Surprisingly good for a Tuesday, though the Rodger's ride crashed when I'm close to the vehicles.. and it did sound like q frequent thing which sucks (for me)... If you ever see a ride broken down and the Lightning Lane return time is short, book it and hope it doesn't come back online so you can get that experience pass.

I kind of think he wasted his MEP though just because the CM told him there was no line and he could have showed us how the MEP works and gone through his options. But at he said many times, it wasn’t a busy enough day to really show how to maximize the LL experience. I loved watching this video, definitely spent my sick day curled up in bed watching this :) Can’t wait to see the next one where it’s hopefully busy because I feel like this will be closer to my experience for my next trip!

Can you pls try this a few more times to see how different it might be on busier days?!🙊 like you said, the last LL video was abnormally busy and this video was abnormally slow. It’d be interesting to see you continue to try LL to see different methods dependant on different crowd volumes. Also I’m wondering if because you’re booking for just 1 single rider if the return times differ? Vs a family of 4 for example. Does that impact LL return times at all I wonder?🤔

MultiPass is the golden ticket. Once you get one, you can book a LL and go to it immediately and scan in (regardless when the LL is actually scheduled). It'll let you scan in since you have a MP, but it'll use your LL since you can only LL once per day per ride. You can continue doing that all day through all LL rides. My wife and I got a MP from monsters and did ALL LL rides at CA by noon. We then hopped to DL and did most rides at DL. We did 22 attractions that day (including 2-3 ride agains without LL). We ended our day finally burning our MP on a ride that doesn't have LL
