Turbo granny is a modern youkai that appears in Japanese urban legends. The urban legend of the Turbo granny is that when you're driving through a tunnel, someone suddenly taps on your car window, and when you look out the window, you see an old woman running alongside your car. Basically, turbo granny are considered harmless. There are various theories about the Turbo granny, but it is said that she chases after you at speeds of 100 to 140 km/h.

Takakura Ken was a famous Japanese action movie actor. He was also a singer. When Ayase is walking down the school hallway, the background music is in the style of what he sang. He's old school, he was very active from the 60s to the 80s, more or less. So, a modern teenager who likes him is weird. At least, in the first episode, it seems to be the story of two weird teenagers who encounter perverted yokai and aliens.
