Takakura Ken was a famous Japanese action movie actor. He was also a singer. When Ayase is walking down the school hallway, the background music is in the style of what he sang. He's old school, he was very active from the 60s to the 80s, more or less. So, a modern teenager who likes him is weird. At least, in the first episode, it seems to be the story of two weird teenagers who encounter perverted yokai and aliens.

Yeah after watching Undead Unluck I thought it was going to end up being my favorite newer shonen but I also think Dandadan might end up just as high among my favorites. It was a fantastic first episode. I'm also loving that these shonen seem to put a lot of emphasis on the romance from the get go, I haven't seen that much before.

I randomly grabbed this manga on a shelf in little Tokyo because I was looking for a manga to read in Japanese so I don't forget the language while I'm in the US and I immediately fell in love. It's starts with a bang and keeps going. I really like the synergy between the characters. it's 100 times better than the synergy in most romance manga.

The reason why it gives HEAVY Chainsaw Man vibes because the author was a former assistant of Fujimoto who wrote CSM. It pretty much has everything that CSM and why it has some WILD scenes in it. Science SARU is killing it and if they keep going with this quallity then it's really gonna be AOT but one thing is "bad" that season 1 is only 12 ep but it's fine.

I have read Dandadan since chapter 1, it has been the weirdest shit but one of the most emotional. Like I have cried many times when reading it but also completely shocked at how insane some moments can be. Also the art in the manga has been fire and the anime is doing a really good job, there are gonna be some tough panels to adapt but I have hope Science Saru can do it. Never heard of them so I don't know if they are a household name, but this anime might put them up there.

The "crassness" definitely dies down after the first couple episodes and was used as a bit of a "hook" since Shonen Jump titles really need attention at the start to continue serialization and gain popularity. I'm never really a fan of things like teenage rape and the like being portrayed in anime/manga so just wanted to give others hope that it isn't an ongoing thing in this series.
