What was the problem with the original, or more likely, previous case? I have re-cased one of these in the past myself (an open face, and not a Maximus though). I didn’t have any issues. I suspect the previous case might have been a standard 16s and not a model 1888 case? Btw, I recently acquired a Model 1888 Riverside Maximus myself. Anything done to that watch will be by a pro, and preferably Chris. I am in awe of his videos, both the quality of his productions and of course, his incredible work.

@jamesrosas3473 I can’t agree more. Chris does excellent work and has a real passion that’s hard to find. The previous case and/or the movement… Or maybe the symmetry between the movement and the case had an issue. The movement was seized inside the case and the screw that was supposed to release the movement didn’t function. So the first issue was just getting the movement disassembled enough to allow the complete movement to be removed. At that point… Might as well do a complete service and remove the case (or the problem) so the watch can be enjoyed.

Great collaboration! In defense of nickel alloy, it is 100% recyclable (no don't recycle the old case, its a joke =P). How crazy that 3 watchmakers were unable to do anything.

I’m OK with nickel cases (I don’t like it when they put a chrome plating on it that flakes off ). I was really surprised too that I couldn’t find someone local to do the job. It’s getting tougher to find good watchmakers these days.

Simply beautiful! I agree solid metals are much more desirable and a fitting case for this perfect condition movement. PS 8am I watch @WatchArtSci Sat. Morning's Professor William Sanders so I miss yours FYI possibly a slight time change can add viewers? frendly sugg.
