Sorry i'm a little late but, just moved into a house, and i'm on a well, just a two bedroom, what's your opinion on rain barrel, systems,? From what I hear location is important, i live in florida,but don't live in a city area like miami or orlando, i imagine it still has to be treated, but how much,? Thanks, this was very informative, 👍

@@Freshnss I actually do have a question….It was mentioned it’s best to hv the hydrogen peroxide injection point after the well pressure tank. You actually use more H202 if you have it prior to the pressure tank. I’m just curious why that is? My injection point is just before my pressure tank. Like 8”. If I go through the work to move the T fitting to the pvc on the outgoing side of my pressure tank before it enters my carbon filter n softener what am I gaining? Thank you for anything you can share

Can we run a well as back up when the city water goes down? Is there like a convenient switch I can have installed?
@Freshnss10 ай бұрын
Technically, yes. Legally, you need to check where you live. Many states will not allow a well to be connected to the municipal source for fear of backflow even if you plumbed it with a bypass or switch.
@kmd88412 Жыл бұрын
Can we use the bypass valve when we use house water to water plants?
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
You can always use the bypass for any properly installed filtration or treatment system. However, keep in mind that you would have to clear all the standing water in the pipes which could be very wasteful. A better option would be to use a spigot available before your treatment systems. If you didn't have one already, you could ensure that a plumber installs one during any system installation.

I don,t know the iron levels, have shocked the well 2 times in the last 5 years. The well has a pretty bad Iron problem. (rust coloured muck) when emptying, I don,t want to shock the well more often and I just want to solve this stain in my toilet by more filtration possibly. I Would rather not change my cartidges more often either . Thanks
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the follow up info. We really need to know the specific iron and bacteria levels to prescribe the right treatment. As we mention in the video, it is like going to the doctor, you need do have the analysis first. So I would suggest starting with a well water test. We have a couple of options here: freshnss.com/water-test-kits/well-water-test-kits/ Then we will know for sure what you need. But in general, adding more and more sediment filters is not going to be the right solution.

I just bought a home with well water and I believe that I have a galvanized tank. Should I replace it asap or wait until it fails?
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
Definitely look to get that replaced. We cover the negatives of using old galvanized tanks in the video. They present a number of issues for well water treatment.

I use a 20 micron and 5 micron in line (2 sediment filters) and still get some iron staining in one of my toilets. My well water is pretty good other than Iron . Could I add another 20 micron or 5 micron or a 30 micron to clean up this Iron problem ? (3 sediment filters in line) I don,t have a treatment system and don,t want or need . Thanks
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Have you tested your water or know what your iron or bacteria levels are? Have you done a disinfection treatment (shock your well) in the last 12 months? You say you don’t want an oxidation system, but it may be the best solution.

We have 23 ppb of arsenic and limit is 10 ppb, for now till we come up with a solution we are using bottled water. Can you help with coming up with a solution?
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
Yes! You definitely need to do something about that! Let me find a couple of the best solutions and send them over shortly 👍
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
Hey There - here are the best options for your arsenic. The Crystal Quest is the best whole house filter for arsenic that will remove other contaminants like VOCs in the pre & post filters too. You can also add the softener if you have hard water or light iron/magnesium/sulfer issues. Check that option here: crystalquest.com/discount/FRESH5?redirect=/collections/arsenic-removal/products/arsenic-whole-house-water-filter?aff=222 Alternatively, you can go with a point of use reverse osmosis. Your best option for this is the Home Master that is specifically designed for well water (not many RO are well equipped for well water). This will do an excelent job removing arsenic and most other contaminants from your drinking water. Check that out here: bit.ly/3dUhhu8 If you want the best protection, a lot of people will go with a whole house filter and also add the RO at the kitchen sink. If you want to send me your entire water test results, we can double check to make sure this is the best solution for your water, just email me at erik (at) freshnss.com

What’s worst hardness or iron to get out of the water
@juny281611 ай бұрын
My well water taste very good and looks clear. No smell at all. Had a local outfit send off a big test and it looks good to me. Manganese is a little elevated but not much. We have a dark sediment that accumulates at toilet jets and the inside of our toilet tanks are stained black, our water guy, WaterWorks Pump and Well in Covington LA thinks it's from the manganese. The service men they send out have little or no training except for being able to check pumps and service the filters they sell. I placed a spin down sediment filter after the pressure tanks, I have one old and one newer tank, the older does not have a bladder I am told and I believe it has air in the system because a small bleeder hole is required in the roll pipe that goes down to my submersible pump. Any suggestions?
@Freshnss11 ай бұрын
Difficult to diagnose in a comment. If you can send us more details and photos via email on our website we can try to help more. It doesn't take much manganese to cause staining, below the epa limits will do it. A spin-down won't help with manganese. Non-bladder pressure tanks should still have a valve, not just a bleeder hole, but not sure why the tanks are relevant?

Will hydrogen peroxide, remove iron bacteria? I’m getting ready to install a chlorine injection system that now three experts from three different companies have told me I need but if hydrogen peroxide would kill iron bacteria, I would prefer to use that.

Hi Scott - Yes, Hydrogen Peroxide would be preferable over chlorine injection! But also a UV system would be a good idea to add.

@@Freshnss How does UV affect a septic system
@Freshnss Жыл бұрын
A UV light treats water as it enters your home, so it does not affect the bacteria (good or bad) that are harbored in your septic system.
