Not enough people are appreciating the "Awfully hot Cobblepot" line. We all know of Eminem's famous "That's an awfully hot coffee pot" line but what's talked about less often is the fact that he mentioned it in his diss against Donald Trump and the context was that he was considering pouring the boiling hot coffee on Trump for what he's done. Freshy Kanal, I am a great enjoyer of your content. Your rap battles have fantastic lyrics and flows, but what truly sets you apart is that the characters are so animated and have so much personality which influences their raps, rather than characterization made around their raps. Every competitor comes with a unique voice and style. Each rap battle is so filled with so much characterization it's as if they're a part of their own story, from the musical style of Maleficent vs Wanda, the contrast between Edgar Wright and Wes Anderson or the Scarecrows, the gravitas of the Kraken vs Cthulu, the list goes on. But this one might be my favorite. It might be because of the inherent political nature of this battle. Politicians are the only people that ACTUALLY battle with words, that weaponize words, which lends itself perfectly to a rap battle. The backing track is dramatic, I love the parts at 1:02 and 2:00 where the heavy synth bass underlines the monotone line, emphasizing the power in what seems mundane. Your portrayal of Boris Johnson is perfect, methinks, because you manage to both mock how shallow and pathetic a person he is AND condemning/highlighting his horrible behavior and failure to lead. His verses also convey his shallowness; How one of his brags is his sex life, and how the second verse is an imitation of what he thinks traditional rap looks like- it's subtle but conveys that he's not in his depth compared to the immaculate flow of the Penguin. But his lines aren't completely devoid of credibility- If this battle was completely one sided, it would be boring. Dan Bull nailed this performance, because Dan Bull is amazing, and brought both the pathetic, unimpressive hollowness but arrogant to the point of gaining power from his own narcissism that is so common in corrupt politicians. The penguin is a great contrast, as he's pretty much the antithesis of modern politicians, despite his apparent role for mayor (a reference to Batman Returns). Whereas politicians work for public image, the Penguin is openly gross and crass, and therefore resents Boris for his attitude of superiority when he is just the same, but doesn't bring any gentlemanly flair to it. I would list some of my favorite lines, but honestly everything the Penguin says is damn good lyrical work and amazing performance. Congratulations on creating a very entertaining piece of critical political art. This channel is very good. clap clap clap.
