Wow. This is like...crazy good. The exercise shared at the top of the video from high school was super cool all on it's own and I think I'm gonna be playing around with just those concepts for a while/ever. But playing around with octaves...such a crazy simple concept, n so much good stuff in there. Just messing around with it, taking it in other directions, hearing the dna of so many amazing riffs, licks. And all wrapped up in the larger lesson of expanding your turnaround vocabulary... very cool. thank you.

Killer man! Thanks so much. Your syncopation sounds great, the staccato thumb especially.

Many yrs ago I played with a Boogie Woogie piano player, and when it came to the turnaround, I never knew if he was going to go up or down on the bass line. So..... I devised a way to do both at the same time so no matter which way he went I was in sync. Yeah I know, not really in your lesson, but I still use it today.

This is and shouldn’t be over my head like a toupee. It seems important. If anybody knows where to find the beginning part he was “not going to cover here” anywhere let me know in replies. Or if you feel a brief explain if the octaves part and how it was approached, I would appreciate it. I like that he is exploring ideas of musicality because I want to understand how the turnaround works … so I can improvise my own vs just going copycat. I also figure the behind the scenes knowledge helps make copycat easier.

Not seen anything from David in a month or so. I hope he's just taking a well deserved break

It's over two months now since David posted a video. Does anyone know if he's ok or maybe he's just stopped making youtube videos? I'm only asking out of genuine concern. If he's moved on that's fine, I just hope he's ok
