A rare custom color 1969 factory Bigsby Telecaster that weighs 8.30 lbs. and has a nice comfortable nut width of 1 5/8 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Solid alder body and one-piece fretted maple neck (with a skunk stripe) with 21 original medium frets and inlaid black dot position markers. The neck profile is consistently medium-to-thick all the way up the fretboard starting at 0.87 inches at the first fret and gently rising to 0.92 inches at the 12th fret. A typical late sixties neck profile - actually almost identical to that of a Candy Apple Red 1966 'maple-cap' Telecaster that we have in stock. Individual Fender "F" tuners with octagonal metal buttons. Headstock decal with "Fender" logo in black with gold trim, "Telecaster" in black beside it, and two patent numbers "2,573,254" and "3,143,028" beneath "Fender." Single "butterfly" string tree with small nylon spacer. Four-bolt neck plate with large Fender "F" logo and serial number "255487" between the top two screws. One plain metal-cover pickup (at neck) with an output of 6.83k and one black six-polepiece pickup (angled in bridgeplate) with a really hot output of 6.94k. Three-layer (white/black/white) plastic pickguard with eight screws. Two controls (one volume, one tone) plus three-way selector switch with black plastic "Top-Hat" tip, all on metal plate adjoining pickguard. Chrome knobs with flat tops and knurled sides. Fender factory 'floating' bridge with six 'ridged' saddles and factory Bigsby tremolo tailpiece. The neck is stamped in black "3 MAY 69B" and the pots are stamped "137 6634" (CTS August 1966). This guitar is in excellent plus (8.75) condition, with a few scratches on the back, some areas of playing wear on the edges of the body and a few small surface chips. The original 'medium' frets show some wear but there is plenty of life left in them and the maple fretboard shows virtually no sign of wear. Overall, this is an excellent example of this rare custom color. Housed in its original Fender black hardshell case with black leather ends and reddish orange plush lining (9.00).

for all y'all curious about phil's energy... my favorite jam partner is a 73 year old cancer survivor - who you'd expect to be on a pacemaker and in a wheelchair.. but he can play all out from 5pm till 5am. absolutely rocking everything from del shannon to the eagles to playing background to my solo work. now, they never had a medical diagnosis when he was younger, but recently a doctor informed him he is ADHD. so i think it's that simple.. some people are wired different and just happen to put that energy towards something positive like music.. :)

Phil is a hoot - and he obviously takes his guitar playing very seriously. It is ironic that he is highlighting all these very expensive vintage guitars b/c he is a clear example that IT ISN'T THE GUITAR - its' the guitar player. I mean really how many players would take the time to learn that Hotel California guitar harmony solo in double-time! We all wish there was a drug that would give you this much energy and still allow us to maintain our focus and the quality of our performances - but there ain't. Energy and commitment like this comes from the inside - and from God. Keep it up Phil - you rock!

For Sure! I Hate how people think he's got to be ON SOMETHING to be as vibrant/enthusiastic as he is... a lot of people are like that, just naturally energetic. I personally try to surround myself with people such as this, because these kinds of people are honest/genuine/not afraid to be who they are. Obviously he is not as upbeat all the time. Everyone winds down for a relax now and again. He's just PhilX, doing what he loves; why wouldn't you be happy about that!

The reason the Tele has a unique tone in the Bridge position opposed to say a Strat or other guitars with single coils, is because the bridge surrounds the bridge pickup, so a big bit of metal is surrounding the pickup, which gives it that tone. And yes, the string through the body does contribute to the tone but not as much as that bridge around the pickup. There you go phil

It makes no difference to me that you call him a hack. For every riff or song he covered, there's ten other brilliant songs that he worked out himself. You can call him a thief or a hack all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that he's inspired many thousands of guitarists to pick up and play, and that him and the rest of Zeppelin have had a lasting impact on the music world.

Phil X I have the same brain "defect" as you, i.e., ADHD. It was obvious to me the first the time I saw one of your videos. "Normal" people think your crazy but I find you completely normal and very enjoyable. The fact is that our brains run at 78 R.P.M. and the rest of the world is at 33 1/3. Your "brain heat" lights up a room. PS Dont ever change, not that you could!

There were 17 edits in Hotel Califonia, the solo was constructed by producers in the studio from the many takes that Joe Walsh had recorded. They actually handed him a cassette telling him, "here's your solo for live gigs now go and learn it". A friend of mine attended an audio engineer's course, the teacher had worked as an engineer during the recording of Hotel California, he was there so he knew what had occurred.
@unchien2069

Felix Burke I heard Don Felder (the other guitarist on that solo) say that he had recorded the whole solo and harmony part in a demo tape. he and Walsh recorded a different solo than the one on the demo tape for the record, but don Henley asked him to record the same solo as the one on the demo because he liked it better

Yes, I've heard Felder tell that story too, Liam. Although I'm not sure how well that gels with the fact that Joe Walsh's parts sound like pure Joe Walsh, not pure Felder. Perhaps it was only the harmony part they kept from the demo?
