This was a wonderful introductory video to Freud’s approach to dream analysis (this might even be the best series on KZbin that explains this concept). Can’t wait to watch your future lectures. In the mean time, I’m left with one particular question in mind: if dreams are an expression of a wish-fulfillment, then what are nightmares?

Freud would still view a nightmare as a wish fulfillment, he would interpret whatever main themes of the dream you had as some sort of repressed feeling or underlying desire having to do with the more primal aspect of human thought,(in Freuds case mostly if not always sexual), say a fear of falling or being chased or whatever can be trased back to being a child and having those adrenaline feelings being linked or related to the act of intercourse, perhaps in a nightmare those repressed feelings being induced tenfold by stress or other negative factors but still ultimately leading to sexual desire and wish fullfillment at least in Freuds analysis, his whole interpretation of the Oedipus story is a nightmare and interpreted that as a repressed wish fullfillment played out by the character

You're a great teacher, however, in my humble opinion, I do recommend that you get a decent quality microphone doesn't have to be anything fancy instead of using the camera built in. Also if you can get your camera to quit moving as you move, that might result in a better quality video production. I just subscribed and I can't wait to see more of your lectures. Thanks!

Well it surely is the case that sometimes dreams are a refuge from reality and that 'the real' of reality is far more troubling than dreams themselves.

I guess that you might be referring to Lacan's reinterpretation of Freud's "father can't you see I'm burning" dream.
