Sure it might be, but those are also personal and private spiritual rituals. Recording that sounds rather mighty intrusive.

@@ulfbjorn14 if it was intrusive there wouldn't be photos to begin with. Ron McVan has been filming his for a while and they provide valuable insight for other heathens to learn by.

Our members and leaders do find filming our rituals to be an intrusion on the sacred. I understand that it also might well be informative. Ron McVan filming his rituals is between him and the Æsir.

First and foremost, the purpose of blót is to please and honor the Æsir. Trying to maintain the sacrality of a special moment between Folk and Gods is important to us. We do not believe in a "wider heathen folk community". If Folk are practicing Ásatrú, we ought to practice it together in the Asatru Folk Assembly, this is also important to us. To that end, we try to advertise by showing images of sacred moments. We try to find the right balance as we do not believe the issue is an all or nothing scenario.

Just out of interest - do you look at family trees of members in order to know if you're Nordic? How can you be sure?

No. We are not trying to "be sure". We are not all "Nordic". The AFA is Pan-Aryan. If we are honest, we all know if we are "White" or not. That may mean different things in different countries, but in the United States it is clear to honest people.
