Everyone, I think, had a Deebo to worry about. This is a great pick from the 90’s. Another, is the 1994 comedy Clerks. It introduced the world to Jay & Silent Bob. Who were even featured on Degrassi.

Per your first-time question: Mine was with a group of gang bangers in Springfield, MA. They laced it with Angel Dust. I remember starting on a park bench. There was a sword fight...and then I was coming down on the curb of a 7-11 coughing blood and 1/3 of the way through a pack of Kool 100s. I didn't die or kill anyone, so had fun maybe?

That's the magic of "Friday." It's showed the world how Black Americans living in the "hood" really exist. We're funny; we're a community. We know each other. Watching reactions from people abroad is really helping me learn about others and our own (multifaceted) American culture. In the AA community, women take hair very seriously, which is why you see the sister sleeping so as not to mess up her hair. You mentioned disbelief about the importance put on $200. Think about it like this. If you were stealing from your job, you'd be fired. Well in the world of criminals "fired" has a much heavier connotation. Because if 1 employee steals from you with no serious consequences, then others will too. I enjoyed your reaction.

13:10 My first time smoking was in my last year of High School. I was always a shy, reserved kid. I never really fit in all throughout my years in school; I was (and still am) extremely socially awkward, but I had a great small group of friends . I invited them over to smoke (after lying like I had done it before lol), and after coughing my lounges out, I just remember having a genuine laugh for the first time ever with people not related to me. For the first time, I honestly didn't care about how I sounded, what I looked like, or how I came off to people. For a few hours, I was 100% myself, and I think my friends felt the same way.

Friday came out a year before I left for college. I lived in a cluster of other dorms that shared a living space....Friday, Pulp Fiction, The Rock, Shawshank Redemption, and Tommy Boy were basically on loop.

Michael Clark Duncan was actually in that dice scene. Watch it again. Debo hands him the money when Red pulls up.

I know I’m a year late, but as someone who grew up watching this movie, the scene when Ice Cube is grabbing a glass of water for his father, in the original scene he takes the ice cube and rubs it where the sun doesn’t shine, and then dropped it back into the cup, which explains why the dad had such a foul face when taking a sip. They had to change the scene for obvious reasons 😂😂

If you see ever see this comment, you should watch Straight Outta Compton. You were mentioning how genuine this felt and how the actors like Ice Cube may have lived in a similar neighborhood or had the personal upbringing like in the movie.. this movie will give you a taste of Ice Cube's upbringing and how the rap/hip-hop group N.W.A. he was a part of was created in late 80s-early 90s. Awesome movie and highly recommended!

Oh my god yes!!! My favorite movie. I honestly agree with Simone. I wouldn’t just categorize it as stoner. The first one is truly a slice of life comedy about living in the hood and the cast of odd ball characters. the others fit the stoner genre more. They’re Funny but None compares to the grounded tone, comedic timing, and performances of this first one. You can tell all are directed by different directors. I don’t consider the first a stoner comedy. Yea there’s weed but the take away to this one has far more depth than the rest. It’s truly the only one out of all of them that when you see it for the first time you feel how genuine it is. The moments that are supposed to be a little darker really hit.

When this movie came out you could see it in 3-D. That’s why at the end the Minions were trying to reach as far as they could so they could show off the 3-D

George, growing up in West Texas, I knew my fair share of lowriders. And yes, they drove up and down the street hitting the switches, making their cars bounce up and down. My uncle was one of them.

I have ACTUALLY gotten High w/Chris Tucker (way back, slightly post-high school). He gets kinda quiet... then outta nowhere he starts cackling like a Loon. My FIRST time smoking weed was a super controlled evening put together by my best friend. He made all the decisions, pre-rolled lotsa joints...we listened to killer tunes, watched a hilarious movie and rode bikes, late into the night.

George, you asked about first time high stories. Sophomore year in high school, lunch right before PE. During PE, I was high as shit and I was wearing a Yugioh Abridged shirt that said “My hair looks like a unicorn!” And I actually started crying when I was told there were no unicorns in Portland 🤣

There are some states where you can pretty much smoke weed openly in the US. But my buddy in Tennessee was pulled over recently (I spent a few years in that state, but moved after a while) and they confiscated his supply, threatened to arrest him because that would have been permissible in the state of Tennessee, But ultimately let him go because of his age. They also gave him some ignorant warnings like "you know that pot can ruin your life just as much as crack or heroin, right?" Even though that's so untrue it's f****** pathetic. He's sales rep who makes over 90 grand a year, he still smokes weed every single day like he has since high school. (He's almost 30 now)
