Completely agree, Frank. It's almost like a 'Best of' album, even though it's not. I love how one song leads into the next too.

My favourite song by the Cars. the layers upon layers in that fade out. Magic.

‘They had a couple of earlier albums…’😂😂 Their 1978 debut is one of the greatest debut albums ever. In a year that produced an amazing amount of unbelievable music, this one stood out. Listen to their debut album ‘The Cars’ and the follow-up, ‘Candy-O’ which this song came from.

They were my very first favorite band...I was 12/13 . I saw them as my first concert in 1982...

This was the closing track on the excellent Candy-O album. The guitarist Elliot Easton is very underrated. This is a Roy Thomas Baker Produced track ( He also did Queen & Journey ) Perfect track to close a sweet 🍬 album !

I'm a big fan of the Cars. This songs vocal style always makes me think " reminds me of DEVO"

I'd always believed this song's title was 'She's A Lot Like You', until about two years ago 😅

This song reminds me at the beginning of "Get it on" from T.Rex and later on of some B '52s. But The Cars were great.

I'm pretty sure 'You Might Think' had also been my own very first The Cars experience! 😀 I had believed at that time they were a brandnew band! 😅 I was only when I came across their 'Anthology' compilation album 20 years later and through songs like 'Just What I Needed' and 'Good Times Roll' that I realised how long already they'd actually been in the Music Biz 😀 Great band! And Elliot Easton is among my favourite guitarists 🤩

An excellent song by this great band, "Drive" is still my favourite off of 'Heartbeat City's, but "Candy-O" was a great album too, which this is off.

Good song. You should also listen to band member's solo projects- Ben Orr's 'In Circles' and Rick Ocasek's 'Jimmy Jimmy'.

One more thing Cynthia & Chris, and since you two were so entertained by Greg Hawkes, the keys player: If you do feel like it and also find the time for it, maybe watch The Cars' '78 live gig on the German 'Musikladen' TV show some time! Greg has some great moments also there! 😀 And bassist/2nd lead singer Ben Orr does those "Oh man, am I hot stuff!" facial expressions throughout the whole performance, too! 😄 Strange to see him with _dark_ hair here, by the way! I'm sure I'm not the only person remembering him with blond hair 🙂 He had a fantastic voice, and I get quite sad whenever I hear it, because of the poor guy's cancer death some years ago 😞 It also is sad that Ric Ocasek had passed away a couple or three years ago, of course 😔

Candy-O, a great album that is often overlooked. Admittedly Candy-O is not quite as good as their debut album although in my Cars' catalog i listen to both the debut and Candy-O equally.

Candy-O is almost like a 'Best of' album, even though it wasn't. I love the first album, but have to wonder if Candy-O would have been considered greater had it been first. My only problem with the first one is that in terms of airplay, it's always 'My Best Friend's Girl' and 'Just What I Needed', as if those were the only songs the group ever did. By the way, did you ever get their final (2011) album 'Move Like This'? It's faithful to the classic Car's sound, but definitely updated for the 21st century.

I’ve never dived very deep with The Cars , loved My best friends girlfriend and Just what I needed but that’s about it tbh .. this track isn’t offensive but neither is it memorable in my view . 👍🏴

Yeah, they were pretty good in the day. I had a couple of their albums. They had a lot of hits in Australia... They didn't seem keen too come down here or even be interviewed on Countdown until 1984. The ''buy our records but don't bother us'' type, I guess. Anyway, I've sent an email about an iconic song by The Angels. There's good reason why an original recording and a live performance should be seen in one video. I know that's demanding, but honestly.. the crowd response in the live version is part of Australian pop culture... The song is about a death of a friend and it is a ripoff of a Status Quo song called ''Lonely Night''. The original is from 1976 and the live version is from around about 2009. You'll see how much the crowd loves the late Doc Neeson and the boys.

"Who's gonna drive you home"! 😉 But its title is just 'Drive' 😊 Live Aid was actually the first time I heard their song 'Just What I Needed', and only in 2010, after I'd bought the 25th Anniversary DVD set 😀
