Joe was so friendly. I met him in 2000. I was 13 and we were in Nashville doing a bus tour of the stars homes. He had a modest 2 story home with acreage and was outside on his riding mower himself. We took pictures and stopped and saw him. He got off the mower and came up on the bus and greeted us, it was a small group mainly seniors, I was probably the only teen. He was so sweet. My granny didn’t know who he was but she was even impressed, she didn’t like country at all.

A recording engineer told me to send one of my songs to Joe so I did. I called his office a few months later to see if he received it. The nice lady who answered the phone flipped out when I told her who I was.She said Joe got the song and loved it. She said he played for everyone everywhere he went. I thought I was on my way finally.I was a backstage guest a few weeks later, all access. What a time! I asked Joe if he thought about recording it and he said "It is bit risque for radio", I saw my dream suddenly nose dive into the sea. At least it was great to be acknowledged and viewed as a songwriter. His band was a great bunch of fine musicians and they all knew me before I could even introduce myself! Thank you Joe wherever you are and all my best to his family.

Still can't believe we lost Joe. Such a good guy and had so so many great 90's Country Rock songs and country ballads. songs you can sing along to. He could really deliver. Then thinking how long it's been since I've heard Joe's songs on the radio and I get mad at the industry and radio and how the industry evolves. Why they move on from those great 90's country singers and bring in the new people. Why does radio have to stop playing Diffie's music and a lot of the greats. It's the way the industry moves and the influence that we are at the mercer of radio. And radio is at the mercy of the industry and the way they feel like moving in. Hate it. God bless you Joe Diffie, rest in peace and thank you for all your music.

I believe this is one of the last if not the last interview Joe Diffie did. Bobby and crew thank you for having him. Country music and heck all music genres have shifted some away from alot of our childhoods. Some of the best are being less thought about. No one should be faded away. Bobby is one of the best on-air, or even best guys in the entertainment business, that respects country's past, present and future. When he brings in the 90's country stars, it's my favorite. Those mid 80's through the 90's acts launched country into a whole new fanbase. Country acts today can thank them all for that! AND...if I were the tour managers, I'd have artist from those decades, on tour with the new acts. Just to celebrate the genre's past. A lot of great acts out there from our country past!
