Your slick presentation and original style are matched only by your motivation. As an ex resident of the UK's self proclaimed coastal capital, I can confirm that Albion Hill is indeed the steepest climb In Brighton with a "through way" , whilst its northern neighbour, South Over Street, remains a reasonably close second...and Richmond Street - one corner closer to the coast - about equal, but also half as long. Whitehawk Hill Road, which spurs right off Upper Abby Road alongside the Sussex Hospital's towering Millennium Wing has an identical average gradient to Albion's horrific "domed summit" and runs for fractionally longer at this angle, but it joins a gated trail at the crest...and I believe (like Hove's dreaded Drove!) may be a one way street downloads, thereby rendering it ineligible for categorizing on legal grounds! All four are official members of a notorious family of "quad-busters" known as the Kemptown Killers, which are frequently used for "hill reps" by training cyclists and clinically certified Gymphobics . The also includes Freshfield Road (which joins Edward Street to Manor Hill) Wilson Avenue (a lengthy haul commencing at Brighton's Marina Village - but "easy meters" with "elemental EPO from a gale force South Wind! Elm Grove (longest of all but less steep), Bear Road (Elm's grizzly bed fellow, narrower, nosier and treacherous during busy hours...not to mention an absolute beast for the final half kilometre, and Hartington Road, deceptively long and, like Southover, made more difficult by numerous speed bumps . This topographical fraternity of highly "KOMBustable" ascents seems to spawn new siblings every year, especially since the era that advanced SatNav technology became commonplace within popular Smartphones Apps and everybody began using activity tracking platforms either to keep fit or transport grass fed beef patties in lightly toasted brioche buns, sustainably skinny "Parisian" fries and batter basted balls off free range chicken mince from branches of McDonalds to ravenous clients...too busy to carry out self-service takeaways! 😉😉

One thing you learn when parking on a hill is, point your front wheels so the downhill-facing end is turned towards the curb. That way, if your parking brake fails, your car doesn’t roll straight down! Folks with automatic transmissions put them into Park (which engages a lock in the transmission), and folks with manual cars put theirs into gear (so the drag of the engine resists rolling).

Good episode. Nice to go new places. Lots of tips. Generally nice people. The concierge needs to read his job description, what a knob. One of the towns in Kent where I am from. Massive hills. People used to leave bricks outside their houses. Park up, jump out and wedge it under the wheel. Imagine that today with the current generation. They would all be picked up and put through someone's window. Better times.

There's also one called The Drove which is insane, short but definitely the steepest in the city - it's one way and barely wide enough to fit a car down, doesn't feel like you should be driving on it.

Totally miss Brighton, especially in summer. Used to more or less live in that Hilton on the seafront while I was doing IT Consultency work on the south coast around 2010. It was the Metropole back then. I always wondered what that little shop thing beside Sussex Heights (the attached apartment block) was, seems abandoned now. Preston Street had some good eats. Casalingo I think is still around, superb italian. Burger King on North Street had the most efficient fast food worker I ever encountered, he looked like an android with the fast forward button on. Hope hes moved on to better things. I will have a seafront summer apartment there when I make it big in Hollywood.
