One thing I really love about this show is how it can turn my sympathies around from character to character. I mean, Emily has plenty of bad moments, but I do sincerely feel sad for her when she's in the kitchen. Which I think is a credit to the writing and the actress.

okay, but this is a very important moment, right? their communication is usually really, really bad, but lorelai went for it and explained, and when nothing came back she put up with that and asked 'will you accept my apology'? and upon being 'called out' (respectfully, in all the right ways, and without condescend or sarcasm) for not reacting, she accepts her apology and doubles up with 'i've have bad days, too' that's how you go at this stuff, and things would have gone very different had they built up on that open and constructive communication

The painting would have looked better/ more natural if she was looking down at the book. instead her face looks like she's in church during a sermons holding the little booklet thing staring up at the priest

@@lauriecarson6483 I wouldn’t say they treated her like crap, Lorelai just didn’t want to live the life they had set for her. The fact she was pregnant at 16 certainly didn’t help. They were just too hard headed at the time to accept this and in the community of the rich she ruined their reputation and that was above everything else, even their daughter’s happiness. You can bet though that in the years Lorelai was gone Richard and Emily cried themselves to sleep every night.

Smart move by Emily, when their status at the club is challenged because her husband was loosing clout at work, she commissions a painting that she can brag about to the DAR, probably could book a luncheon at her place to show it off. It distracts from Richard's Work gossip, and it makes them look more upper class at the club, like Rory belongs there. So when one family member's status is questioned, Emily bolstered up another family member, for all we know that Portrait is what put Rory on Logan's family's radar as a potential wife

Looking back at the first seasons Lorelai was a punching bag , Emily was a c*nt , Rory was so angelic it actually made me want to hit her .. I don’t get why people would judge the Netflix series , I would’ve stopped watching if the entire show was like this .
