In the end, I think it was very selfish of Howard to stop Raj from going to London. He knew this could be his only chance to have a wife and family but he put his need to have him there over his dreams. Btw, my daughter says I put too much thought in to this show😅 but that's what I think.

I think the whole point of it was that Raj had a dependent personality disorder and was frantically afraid of being alone. He needed to find himself, love himself and be comfortable being with himself alone. Though I think Anu would have been a great partner for him because she made him grounded, made him believed in himself and supported him. She could be a bit bossy but Raj needed that when his fantasies started to fly away.

The worst thing is his awful character means there was no chemistry with Penny, so everyone blamed her. The main character can have faults, but you can't make him a whiner. He tried to sleep with everything that moved, slept with an 80 year old, cheated on Penny and Priya. Penny was with Zack or maybe 2 other guys in 12 years plus. The most conservative not named Sheldon. But the jokes were she was loose, so no one noticed what was shown to them.

I cannot feel bad for Amy. Even by sitcom standards, it stretches reason that she would want to be back with Sheldon, a guy who hated the fact Amy ruined Raiders Of The Lost Ark for him that he went out of his way to ruin something of hers.

Every sitcom sets it's own rules to separate itself from other sitcoms, with Friends and Seinfeld as you pointed out as examples, but this show broke it's own rules more often after it shifted it focus to be solely on Sheldon and Amy since the writers didn't know how to create for such a couple without ripping off Family Matters and Steve Urkel

Well, lucy was like some pyschotic pixie with no purpose, and I never liked. They leaned hard into the shenny from S3. Sheldon was consistently trying to hurt Amy when she corrected him and played the abuser when she broke up with him. Everyone thought they were cute, but it was a toxic relationship from sheldons side. Howard deserved Bernadette, just good payback for him being 100% sleaze at the start. They took a huge dump on raj, where all they had to do was modify his hehaviour in the script to make him acceptable. Where you have the two top-tier actors in a relationship, you don't have the female siding all the time with the other flatmate. Penny cheated on leonard with sheldon but not sexually. Definition "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage" over him. Badly written by someone that can't write relationships.
