Rory and Lorelai didn’t hate Richard and Emily. They just disliked how old-fashioned and controlling they were, but there was still love there. Rory actively liked the Gilmore way of life and was happy to enjoy its benefits.

Maybe cause Emily is controlling and a always demanding Lorrlai and Rory to do things they don't want to do. Or Maybe cause Emily can't stop medling in their lives and control every move they make. I wiukd never want to have my parents control me.

She did. When Christopher's dad died, he inherited all his money. He wanted to make Rory a gift as an apology for not providing for her financially and he told her he would buy her anything she wanted. So Rory asked him if he could give her the money for her tuition in Yale, which he did. She was then able to pay her grandparents back and it also cancelled her obligation to come at their Friday night dinners.

@@mrbear1302 You're right, it was in her junior year at Yale. I haven't watched for a while but I remember that Christopher paid the tuition and then Lorelai told her parents that their money wasn't needed anymore, which resulted into a big Friday night fight (episode 6x13 Friday Night's Alright for Fighting). I assume Rory paid them back because she was cleared from her obligation to have dinner with them every week, and also it is never mentionned again.

@@willmenalove i first assumed that too. But I am not sure. Maybe Logan payed her plane tickets? Rory gave him a call in the revival, saying she would have time and could visit him earlier and what he thinks about it. IF Rory had the money to travel wouldn't she just have taken a flight and surprised Logan? I do think Rory was broke. Living a party lifestyle like -Fin and Collin - does cost a lot of money. It is easy to spend money, but hard to earn money. She really had no cash and lost track of where her stuff was. She had stuff at Logan's, at Lane's, at her Mom's place and maybe even at Paul's place or Paris place. It was beyond sad, that she didn't take responsibility and asked them to send her stuff and get her stuff together. Or better get her life together.... I do think life can get you on your knees and there is nothing to be ashamed of. What is important is how you deal with it and how you are getting up again.
