@@Avriel_Mimiga Play or not, Boyfriend and Girlfriend are still *dead,* as shown by Boyfriend's blacked out sprite in the Overworld after beating All-Stars, and that final screen with Pico, BF, and GF. Even if they got revived at some point and they're just hanging out in the Mario world and having fun, their _physical_ bodies are dead.

Seeing as the original version was mostly made by Nova64, I have to wonder if this super-extended version was made specifically as a middle finger to him when they removed all his stuff. I mean, you don’t go from “slightly longer song with 2 composers” to “very difficult 10-minute bonus track with four sections and five composers”. It’s also like, 1000x better than the original so I guess they succeeded

@@timewaster348 Nova64 was a dev on MM team, who left the project a long time ago “bc it took too long to come out”, but he still made a bunch of songs for it Turns out Nova was a piece of shit who was openly xenophobic and homophobic. So when they found out the team made the collective decision to ditch all of his songs and have their composers make new versions (False Hero part of Powerdown, Bad Day, It’s-a-Me, this song, etc) Nova was the dude who leaked the older build a day before the big release. He found out that his songs were replaced, pulled out his victim card and leaked a six-month build that still had stuff in it Tbh it really isn’t that bad of drama, it’s over now and most of it was settled behind the scenes until the very end. Sucky conclusion with the leak but Nova’s gone from the internet and all of his work was purged from the mod. The mod’s out now and everyone loves the new versions of songs. So good ending!

I said this in another comment but I have to wonder if they gave this song its monumental glowup specifically as a middle finger to Nova64. Five composers worked on this, including wahbox who helped make Nova’s version. Like, you don’t just organically go from “slightly longer than usual song” to a ten-minute marathon banger without some motivation there

Fun Fact: Mr Sys was actually teased/fore shadowed earlier in the mod. That tease or whatever its called is in "All Stars Act 4" where Ultra M mimics Mr Sys's Voice, and you also also see a corrupt version of Mr Sys's icon on the bar next to Ultra M's Icon.
