@@tinmanssaws good morning sir, I hope we all have a blessed day. I've been try to look for someone in my area that could port my knock off 372xp, I live in Arizona, no want to work on China saws. This is my first bigger power saw, but like I've said before my each 590, out power the 372xp, 590 only has muffler work and had the carb turned to. Also have Makita ea6100, but coming back from hualing a load wood fall on to road busted the gas tank. That's why I love your videos and info, but being on fix income and back problems, sucks. Enough about me, keep the info coming brother, we too have to hual water also, and we don't have power line yet, running off generator for power. be safe and to good health.

Early 162's have a top cover screw on the cylinder like a 44/444, and really early ones have a 3 bolt recoil. HL Supply has the fine thread mounts, I'm sure others do too. The mag tank is only a few ounces heavier than a plastic one.

The 162 came out for North America in 76, Sweden in 1975.

The info I have says the 162SE was introduced in 1976. Big bore Husky's are hard to come by here. I got my Husky 44 running and I am having trouble getting the hesitation out from idle. I'll try your way. It's a strong running saw. Plenty of torque for it's bore size.

It's very suprising to me that they would have a metal gas tank. In 1978 the 61 rancher with the white top cover was introduced. It always had the plastic tank tho. And I dont believe that that top cover on the 162 is original, looks like 266 top cover.

For that 162se when I was digging all over the place to date the one I have, these apparently could be from the mid 70's and up. The one I have has Emab- electrolux motor on it if that holds any value to dating

Tim, my name is chris and i have one of these saws that the man says he built similar to your saw…when i bought it he says it hasn’t run in a bit and there wasn’t any gas in it…he says he doesn’t put them up on the shelf with gas….so, i go home and put has and oil in it and i can barely pull the cord….i know I’m a girl and such but ive had chainsaws my whole life and have had no issues starting a 044 or my 355 husky…..i dont know …i think because I’m a girl maybe i got scammed but my dad died earlier this year and all his saws were given away before i knew about it….he had a johnsered 72 cc with a 32 inch bar….we used to buck wood together…..we live in maine and are never short on wood..could you help me figure out how I’m gonna fix this thing or give me another way to start it…i tried the drop method…..lol…..yeah not such a good experience…..then i tried to stand on the handle and i pull so hard i pull it out from my foot…..it does turn over but man o man…its rough…before i spend anymore money on a saw…i was hoping you might could help me

So you tuned the high jet to being to lean then slightly turned it up a bit richer. I was under the impression one should tune high jet rich to the point of 4 stroke then lean it out just enough so it no longer 4 strokes. With the idea that it’s easier on saw to run it a bit rich which means a bit cooler. I imagine there would be some loss of power doing it this way however. Thought?
@tinmanssaws3 жыл бұрын
A saw should always 4 stroke out of the wood. You tune the high jet in the wood to get it to not 4 stroke when cutting. I could hear the saw was very rich (probably due to lower temps in my area) so I leaned it out a bit to see if the carb would tune properly.
