In this episode of Solo Playthroughs, Greg is happy to present his first playthrough of Friday for the channel, playing at the highest recommended level of difficulty (Level 4). Seen through the eyes of Friday, this deckbuilder game presents the survival story of Robinson Crusoe as he navigates the many challenges facing him on the desert island, culminating with the arrival of two pirate ships. Managing life points carefully will be key to survival, but the next Wild Animal or set of Cannibals is right around the corner, constantly threatening to bring this solo adventure to a premature end.

I had to do it and post this on a Friday. :) I've got a Cloudspire publishing next week but stay tuned for a live playthrough double header of Mage Knight next Wednesday! Happy Gaming! Greg

Friday!! Has to be one of the best small box deck builders - such a great value.

No doubt - so much value here! Definitely makes me think about the cost of other games and wonder a little bit… 🙂

I love it! I was searching Dwellings and found it was coming up. I found your Friday solo. I have never seen anyone play at this level. This was amazing! I will catch you in a few days for Dwellings of Eldervale.

Friday? Friday!! Very classic and honorably mentioned and played solo game. Friday would have been my first board game to try board game. Well, the new online store slow shipment caused purchasing Mage Knight full collections instead as my first board game. Still have thinking in playing Friday. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Peter! There’s a huge gap between Mage Knight and Friday but definitely can’t go wrong with either as your first game. 🙂 Glad it worked out for you!

Saw this one pop up in a forum and I needed some help with my losing streak, so gave it watch. Great video and playthrough - full of energy - too funny. Saw a lot of new moves that didn't know could be done - looking forward to implementing them to put a win under my belt. Cheers

Thanks, LTP! Yeah - the system is pretty flexible in the way it lets you use abilities. And I'm always impressed by how quickly the deck progresses from having a hard time beating a "0" to being able to take on the cannibals and wild animals. Hopefully you've already smashed a couple pirate ships by now!

@@SoloPlaythroughs I think I have only smashed about 3 or 4 pirate ships - I beat the game only once and that doing a lot of things wrong - more to my disadvantage. :-) Still keeping at it at least every Friday. Cheers

@@LearnToPlaythrough 3 to 4 is something! Just getting to the point of getting through the red level challenges is a huge learning curve in this game. :) And playing this game every Friday is such a fun idea.

I actually just got this game. Really fun and easy... needed something like that. Love MK etc.. but my brain can only handle so much after a 10h day of work.

Friday was one of my very first solo games. Always love to bring it out once in a while. Thanks for highlighting a classic. I usually go for destroy and life cards early on and go after the four cards during round 2. Nice to see your strategy, but I was concerned about your life points towards the end!!

Thanks for the comment, Bryan. About my life points, I was pretty concerned myself! :)

Love your channel! Thank you so much for another excellent video as always. Tell me, have you any familiarity with Fields of Fire at all? I just got into it recently and honestly it's quite possibly my favorite solo game now. And with the crunchy and complex games that I know you love on this channel, it definitely seems like something that you might enjoy as well :)

Hey fdsfgs7125! Thanks for the comment and the recommendation. Fields of Fire looks great. To be honest, I’m finding myself not too interested in historical war games these days, but I’m guessing current geopolitical situations is a part of that. I really moved away from both TWOM and Pavlov’s House. That said, I do expect I’ll swing back around to some more in the future and I’ll keep this one on my radar!

How much replay ability does this game have? I’ve enjoyed my one tts play through of it and the mechanics appeal to me, but I worry about how similar each game will feel
@SoloPlaythroughs

Great question, Parekh! I’ve probably played this a couple dozen times and I’m just now at the point at which I expect to win EVERY time. But it’s always a little hairy at some point every playthrough. IMO, for the price point, you’ll more than get your money’s worth before you’ll feel ready to pass it onto someone else (not much resale value here).
