I like the look of your lovely red dress just as it is. Lifting the “waistline” will change the intended vibe. Thankyou for your informative vlogs.

As always, lovely sewing Deb. And I really loved the fabric colours this week. Also, great gift! I think I would raise that waist a touch,

Thanks Anne, all my favourite colours, I will check the pattern to see if the size 10 brings the waist up by much. I’m especially loving the balloon sleeve blouse, have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

I really loved this video Deb. All your makes are AMAZING. Re the Ines dress I think it works perfectly well with the lower 'waistline' and I think where it is actually makes you look longer. It is also reminiscent of a 60's, but updated, dress style. I love that look and I think it looks great on you. I think you could easily raise it too, though if it was at your actual waist could it look a bit boxy on you do you think? 🤣🤣🤣 Let's hope your boss watches so they hear your uniform comment. I think the little frilled shoulder tee for your granddaughter is just the most gorgeous thing, she is a very lucky girl to have such a clever and generous nana. See you again soon!

Hi Catherine I do like the Ines dress and now think it is supposed to have the dropped waistline, I don’t think bosses watch sewing videos 🤣🤣 but they need to think about what makes their staff happy, just saying. I’m loving the frill shoulder tee also I had only previously made it in a 6mth size but really like it in the bigger girl size, have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Love all your makes and about to make the Be Mine blouse-yours is beautiful. Ines dress looks so good with the slightly dropped waistline - sort of retro and fab. I personally would not lift it but we all have to feel comfortable.

Hi Deb. I’ve noticed that so many of the patterns have really wide and deep necks. Is there any chance of you explaining the correct way to reduce the neck size at the cutting out of the pattern. I’m not sure how you reduce the facing of the neck . Loving your posts . 😘
@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 Жыл бұрын
Hi Julie, I can do a bit of a tutorial on how to do this, i have just finished a Fernbird where I reduced the neck and the fit is much better, I will put a vlog up showing how I did that, i think it is an issue with many sewists, I think the older I get the smaller my neck and shoulders are becoming, so many things are big in the neck on me, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

The pockets on that Ines dress indicates to me it’s somewhat of a retro style which seems to reflect a drop waist. I think it looks great and l love Ponte dresses! I have a few. Burda 6363 has a similar sleeve to the pattern emporium shirt although the burda pattern is a dress with a full wrist length sleeve and it’s a lovely feature. That Lise Taylor looks good. Is that gaberdine soft as l was contemplating purchasing some? A Libran grand baby will keep you busy on the sewing front. Develop her sewing skills now as she will want lots of clothes. 😊
@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 Жыл бұрын
Hi Cat, I think the Ines is supposed to be a bit dropped waist and when I look at the photos I really like it, so comfortable. The gabardine is very soft and I only used a size 12 universal needle so it was easy to sew. The pockets of the skirt are double sided and the instructions state if you have heavy fabric use a lighter weight fabric for the inside, but I used the gabardine and it was fine. Babies always keep you busy and she quite enjoys being in the sewing room, not as much as all the grandkids loved it when I had the wedding dress up on the mannequin on the sewing table they kept going back to look from the doorway as they were not allowed in, they just couldn’t stop looking at a princess dress 🤣🤣. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Love your makes as usual. They are gorgeous. The Ines dress looks like it sits just slightly under your natural waist maybe. What neck line did you do on the be mine shirt?
@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 Жыл бұрын
Hi Libby, I made the mid neck and regular length, size 14 with the 1 FBA-2, I used my measurements to get the fit and I’m really happy with the fit. Easy sew, and the facing (even though I say I don’t like facings) gives the hem a lovely finish as I do like a deep hem I think it just makes garments look higher quality. Really happy with the fabric, I didn’t know how it would go being 100% cotton, I even got a compliment from my daughter Hannah which is very unusual so it must look good. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 The colour and fabric look gorgeous. So you didn't size down? Some people have sized down l have read. I have a linen blend and rayon fabric from Kristen l was going to make my tops in.
@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668 Жыл бұрын
@@libbybennett3067 no I didn’t size down, I may size down in a rayon but the cotton was slightly heavier/stiffer so was ok to have it a bit boxy, are you going to size down?

no I haven't made it. I seem to be a much greater collector of fabric than I am a sewist. It really surprised me the difference it made when you put the seam at your waist it went from a lovely retro dress into a bland dated dress. Enjoying your blog @@dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668

The neck hole looks too wide on your also, on your first top. It keeps sliding from side to side on your shoulds instead of sitting still. The balloon top is gorgeous. Definitely raise the stitch line onto your waist on the dress. ❤

Hi Faye, I haven’t lost any weight but people keep asking me if I have, I think it’s just slipping down to my tummy area🤣🤣. I have some lovely fabric to make a Fernbird dress so I will try to make it fit perfectly in the neck, I have made the flounce from the sewing revival so I thought it would fit the same, but should have tried it on part way through the sewing process, oh well live and learn.
