In the 1930's my grandfather would drive my mother up the mountain to see the train. He would put a little chair for her to sit in. I have that chair. Thank you for this very special video. And I love your Big T bracelet. We lost a furbaby back in July 💔

When my daughter lived in NC she and her neighbors would rent a cabin in the area for Christmas and schedule a train trip to take a rail trip for the grandkids on a special trip…sadly my wife and I were never to accompany them 😔😔😔…but the photos were amazing 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Oh my goodness! I think I want to move to Saluda! How friendly those folks are! I'm from Randleman NC and were a small town also and friendly but there are so many people here from other places now that everyone doesn't know everyone else anymore like it used to be when I was growing up back in the 50s. Thanks for the tour! And what a thoughtful gift from your sister, Karen!

My Grandfather McCurry worked on the Southern Railroad, starting in the early 1900s. I don’t know for sure, but I would bet that he worked on the railroad track there in Saluda.

We love Saluda, and usually eat at Green River BBQ, on our way from Upstate SC, into NC. Their pulled pork and mac n cheese is excellent, as well as their pulled pork, smoked turkey and beef brisket. Love the adventure as always, and we are definitely going to have to venture more in Saluda, after watching! 😊God bless you both, and God bless Saluda. 🙏

I really loved and enjoyed this video so much. I love history so much. I live in NC and never knew this about Saluda. I loved the old stores and especially the train history. My uncle used to have a very old store and I loved going there as a kid. He had a great old fashioned candy counter and he used to have push ups, which is orange sherbert. Thank you so much for sharing all your amazing adventures.

We visited Saluda in September 2021 and stayed in an Airbnb. The pandemic still had the grill in the store closed, and the Purple Onion had limited hours. We took a back road out of Hendersonville to get there, and that was a wild, crooked ride (I-26 seems to always be under construction). There was a pretty decent BBQ place up around the corner from the main street area, but I just read it's been closed for a while. There's a nice waterfall nearby (Pearsons Falls), but I doubt it would be a good hike in the pouring rain! We went on a drive-about and ended up down in Columbus SC and ate at a placed called The Rural Seed. The food was great!

Hey ya'll. That bracelet was so nice. Great idea your sister had puttimg my man, Big T on it. ❤😪 Thanks for weathering the elements to bring us this video. Ya'll find the neatest places to visit. How do ya'll find all these places? I love the old country/general stores. Lovely mayor. That old store was great. I loved all the history in it. So glad she is keeping the history with pictures, old stove, old drink machines, and old stories. It was nice of Nita to open the depot for ya'll. It would take hours to go through and read everything in the depot. I love stuff like that. Thanks for sharing. Have fun, be safe, and God Bless. Love you guys.❤❤❤

Oh wow! What a beautiful small town. I so enjoy it when y’all take us along with y’all to visit these historic places that are pretty much untouched over the years. And the people are so friendly & kind. Times have changed a lot of small towns in our country, but it’s so nice to see that some are still the same. The safety run off tracks were definitely a good idea. They need safety run off roads coming down I 40 into Asheville, especially when it’s icy in winter, and a convoy is on your back bumper and at night. I’ve drove in that condition a few times, with ice on the road, especially at night…. 😱
