Demonstration of frying Haloumi Cheese - traditional Cypriot style cheese. Fry on a hot pan with olive oil approx 2-3’mins each side. Garnish with finely chopped chilli and squeeze lemon juice before serving. Easy and delicious.

I love fried Halloumi cheese. Only way I eat it, alongside cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and sour dough bread with butter🤤 And I move salt, why I prefer cheeses like Halloumi and Feta even🥰

When I cook halloomi, I set the stove to low and let it marinade in its own juices for 5-10 mins. The cheese on the inside melts while the outside and firm and grilled to a perfect golden brown.

I live in London and the size of the mainstream supermarkets is rly tiny and expensive, however there are many Turkish or oriental local (super)markets in my area, that sell the cheeses in packages like in this video! Try to buy somewhere else and try new things out, if its possible in your area

One of my local restaurants grills a cheese that looks like this, but I don't think it's super salty. And then they actually drizzle some syrup or honey that is also not overly sweet. Sounds crazy but it's freaking delicious. I'll have to find out what they use.

You forgot to say whether or not to pat the slices of cheese dry before frying, and to first put oil in the pan before frying (some frying cheeses do not require any oil). If the slices aren't patted dry before they hit the hot oil, you're going to have some serious possible splatter burns.
@JulietManx4 жыл бұрын
Thankyou for sharing. Did you use olive oil?
@VideoSnooper4 жыл бұрын
Yes I used Olive Oil - however you can use light olive oil for frying compared to extra virgin - extra virgin is better to use for salads etc when you are going to eat it uncooked. Or when you are using smaller amounts. Extra virgin can be used for frying also.
@StalwartShinobi3 жыл бұрын
If the next side browns faster I bet its because you cooked it straight from the fridge? Leave it out for a bit and should only take 2 min max each side

If non-Stick you don’t need too much oil. If it is a stainless steel add a little more and ensure pan is hot. You may also need to shift them a little until they start forming crust.
