Awesome ! We used to catch the softshell crabs in the Barnegat bay , Barnegat N.J.. For some reason larger blue claw crabs cary the softshell crab underneath them . We would use weighted drop lines with bunker on them . When you see the line go taunt the crab was trying to walk away with the bait. Just pull them up slow and get them with the scoop net ! Sometimes there would be 2 crabs. One crab , carrying the softshell underneath ! Very good eatin ! Great video !

Probably my favorite seafood.....softshells. When I was stationed in New Orleans years ago at the 8th Marine Corps District we lived down in Plaqueman's Parrish....this was back in the l970's. Couple of us bought a Lafitte Skiff and pulled a trawl net on the weekends along with setting crab pots. There is no bad way to eat those beauties. Thanks for the memories, Ralph......

We have them up east in Connecticut but they are getting harder to find and I've been crabbing for 40 years. Now I've never done the the soft shell before but I've had them in some shoreline resturaunts. They must not clean the right because there is often sand in the crab. I would love to try them the way you do yours. I've always felt blue crabs were the sweetest shellfish ever even better than Maine lobster. Love your videos they always make me hungry. I'm definitely going to order your seasoning too. Pretty sure my wife and adult sons will love the seasoning as well.

Hey! If you ever visit my home state VA, especially the Hampton Roads region, make sure to try a fried hard shell crab. They’re a very popular delicacy where I’m from. They just take the top shell off of the crabs and use a wet batter to coat the crabs.
