All the tones with my destroyer, and my Strat are through my old Marshall cabinet with a 57 and a little bit of condenser mic. When I use my Suhr signature guitar- that's the Amp into the suhr reactive load IR, using a Celestion impulse response.

Finally a Friedman that doesn't have way too much low end to be immediately useful in a recorded or live mix. Very nice.
@dylanjastle6 ай бұрын
What Friedman’s have you played? All that I have tried out have been pretty easy to dial in and very versatile
@megamania5016 ай бұрын
@@dylanjastle Myself, my Friedman DS 40-watt has a really muddy low end. I've used a 1x12 Friedman creamback that's supposed to match up with that head, an Avatar 2x12 with 2 creambacks, with one Vintage 30 and one G12H, and an EVH 2x12 with Celestian G12H speakers (a cab that I find has a weak low end with the EVH 5150 6L6 head). I dropped the pickup lower on the low E side, and replaced the low E string for a thinner low E, from a 46 to a 42. Nothing worked. What I ended up doing was adding a Naga Viper treble boost (got the idea from Pete Thorne's vid about treble boosters, actually), and the amp absolutely screams without going into metal territory and no muddy low end, but more Gary Moore Live at Dublin face-melting saturation, which is what I was going for. I have a Friedman Little Sister that has a more manageable low end, so with the DS40 thru 2x12 the bass knob is set between 8:00-9:00, the LS20 thru 1x12 creamback, the bass knob is set between noon-1:00.

It doesn't make much sense to compare your experience of an amp to a recorded mix of a different amp. So much depends on the recording setup and the mix.
@rlm44716 ай бұрын
@@megamania501The Dirty Shirley is based on a JTM 45, which tends to have a looser, fatter low end than a Super Lead. That fat low end makes it sound rich and sweet at lower gain settings, and it makes single notes sing beautifully at higher gain settings. It is not really the ideal amp for tight, chuggy heavy rhythm sounds, although you can probably get it there with the right pedals or mods.

It has that 60's sound that has eluded me up till now. I have a Marshall 1987x and I've never been completely happy with it even though it sounds great. The Plex has more balls on the bottom end when especially cranked. I'm going to use a Dr Z watt attenuator and a Marshall 4x12 cab. One, I was wondering on recommendation for the head and two, whether the attenuator is sufficent. Thanks for your input. Thanks.
