I love this amp. Nice review. As I am moving away from modelers, even though I still have and am looking to keep the Fractal FM3 I have, I realized I really only need a couple of amp tones. And enjoy playing real tube amps much more than the synthetic copies of tube amps. Regardless of how good, there still not the same. And since everywhere has a reasonable PA and if they don't I can run the direct out on my Mesa Mark V 25 head out to my FRFR for extra volume if I need to, I don't need or want higher wattage amps anymore. I could see adding this on in the future with a matching cab. Different tone to the Mark V, but just as awesome.

Love it! Beggars can't be choosers but would love to hear 1) guitar volume roll off to clean (can it do it?), and 2) shootout between V1 and V2. Got a Dirty Shirley Mini and love it, but often wish it had a more toothy bite. V2 sounds like it has that upper mids snarl and bite. Got my GAS up now!

Definitely love this amplifier although I am using a dirty Shirley for many of my tones I look forward to dialing in some of the lower gain tones. I play on the amp. I think it will turn out to be a challenge and I will end up using the dirty Shirley or actually I have also considered using this combo since I just ordered it with, a IRD preamp still that’s not adding a lot of extra weight to my rig and easy to carry from rehearsal to local small gigs so pretty excited about this actually and honestly this starts with where I would like my flex to be. I wanna have a little crunch already there instead of starting out with a British clean, so this is just a little bit of a modified clean and you can certainly get some killer blues tones on the one I tested out anyway with the game turned down so still it has plenty to offer and all of the range from you truly PAF broken tone to melt your facethanks for the great demo man. You’re a killer guitarist as always and I love some of the ideas I get from your own improvisation very talented guy thanks. 7:19

Picked one up based off your review. Love it. Ran it into my Marshall SC212 cab. Had to run my 20watt JCM800 through a Fryette PS100 to get a similar sound at lower volume levels. Effects loop sounds good (no switching though). Overall I am impressed by it.
@kurtc72902 жыл бұрын
Hi Charles. I owned the Marshall studio vintage and found it was too loud for regular practice (didnt care for using with an attenuator) Can you get great VH ish gain at reasonable volume? Like a loud tv/theater volumes controlling the master control? Thanks for any info or insight you can give
@charleslowrey93092 жыл бұрын
@@kurtc7290 I haven't tried to get the EVH sound out of it, I have a 5150 iii el34 50 watt head with the 2 x 12 cab that can fill that role. Seems like the PT V2 is giving me more of a Badlands Jake E Lee sound without using my SD1. I haven't tried running the PT V2 through my EVH cab yet. Honestly if your after that sound, I would just get the EVH head, and cab. You get a 50 watt 3 channel tube head with a switchable effects loop for the same price. It does okay at lower volumes. The resonance knob on the back of the evh can give you a bigger sound at lower volume levels.
@kurtc72902 жыл бұрын
@@charleslowrey9309 thanks for your input. I’ll take that into consideration. The video from Andertons shows a bit of low volume usage??? (Hard to assess over the inter webs) but the Pete Thorn video really hit the tonal mark on his take of unchained and drop dead legs… I will do more digging. Thanks again
@charleslowrey93092 жыл бұрын
@@kurtc7290 It sounds good at a lower level. I have a MCX phase 90 EVH pedal on the way I ordered recently. I will let you know if I get some EVH sounds out of the PT V2 with it.

@@charleslowrey9309 thanks again! Yeah I just sold my Marshall studio vintage and picked up an orange rocker 15 head in hopes that I’d get some good 80’s gain at low volumes It’s a good amp but to my playing and ears… a bit fizzy on the edges and lack resonance. Plus I’m looking for the feel of being a bit easier to get singing sustain when attempting lead work. Btw I am using a 2x12 cab with greenback 25w and a heritage greenback 20 watt). I did have the mini Friedman be play through it… it was totally fun an cool but that’s not a permanent solution.. more of a travel or backup amp
