Fundamentally it is the deep State and the government that is the problem. Corporations are like dogs, they can be tamed and they can be feral. It all comes down to how the state decides to deal with them. Corporations are not all-powerful contrary to popular belief. The government in Western Civilization is deeply subverted by cultural marxists. Out of spite for not being able to destroy capitalism because of its superiority, they instead seek to destroy culture and homogenized the world into a United proletariat. They speak in tongues of diversity but what they really want is homogeneity. They want to destroy national identity and local culture for one unified World culture. They want to force everyone together in hopes of collapse and strife all well wagging some dollar bills in front of the capitalists in hopes that they might kill themselves in the long run. Corporations are like robots, extremely good at doing specific tasks and achieving certain goals but unable to defend themselves with real values. Only through the power of nationalism and sovereignty can we prevent this dark dystopia. Do the power of the human spirit and its yearning to belong, through the collective story of tens of thousands of different groups striving towards their own Nations and destiny can we have the preservation of diversity. Remember the vote Trump 2024💜

You don't know why 100 million Americans who didn't vote decided to not do it. You simply don't. Me neither. But, at the very least, I'm not willing to do ridiculous conjectures and appeal to pop science in order to prove my point and validate my opinions. This is exactly the sort of rhetoric I’ve been looking for. A contemporary understanding of modern politics, with reverence for the past but a clear understanding that nothing that has come before is fully able to explain what is happening in the here and now. The US's obsession with freedom is only a lie that has been told so many times it became "fact". If you look at their actions you'll more often find the opposite of freedom. First off the very foundations of the country is made of slavery and colonialism. Secondly the CIA has installed plenty of fascist governments. Just look at the history of South America alone. Thirdly every country they've invaded (other than ww2) in the name of "freedom" and "democracy" has ended up less free than it was before.

I can't just take this definition of fascism without adding a huge grain of salt. England in the 19th century was also a country with limited democracy which fully served the interests of the powerful and harshly persecuted people who didn't submit to the working regime (with freedoms for political expression though), and yet we don't call that fascism. Pre WWI Prussia on the other hand had also a very limited democracy, and it also harshly persecuted political opponents, and we don't recognise it as fascism. I don't think it makes sense to call any reactionary government fascistic. It doesn't really further our understanding of them. I think fascism is something way more specific, and dangerous.

Fascism, as opposed to most political ideologies, combines certain political, social and economic values with a spiritual and ezoteric feeling/livelihood (don't know how to translate "trăire" into english). It's a very animated ideology and usually contains dogmas and rituals closer in essence to a religion than to a normal political ideology. You can have a racist, classist, corporatist and authoritarian country which would simply not be fascist if it doesn't also include the ezoteric aspect. You can have an egalitarian/socialist country and it COULD be considered fascist as long as it has that ezoteric aspect. The closest historical example i can think of is the Roman Empire during the Principate. We know relatively little of the "roman religion", because even to the Romans, especially during the Principate, their individual religions and beliefs were secondary to Rome itself. The belief in "Rome" or the spirit of the unconquered "Eternal City" and of the "Capital of the World" was the true religion of the Empire, which guided all people and political beliefs. Don't misunderstand me, i'm not calling the Roman Empire fascist, but they are the closest historical example of a "world ideology" which combines both intellectual and spiritual beliefs to this degree. And obviously, the people weren't machines of the empire, there were plenty of revolts and people that simply refused to put their faith into such an ideology, for obvious reasons.

The reason fascism didn't exist before the first liberal democracies were in place is that fascism always tries to counteract a liberal society which is changing much quicker than a strict one. It's basically an act of defiance, natural resistance of societies against change. If a society is not free enough it is not changing much in the first place and thus fascism cannot really emerge. It's by nature reactionary and will, ironically, end by transforming back into some kind of monarchy with one ruler. The second monarchies in Europe were torn down and democracies were put in place fascism started to form, first as a conservation effort to bring back monarchies, later by changing the focus onto a national identity that should be preserved. You can see these roots of origin in fascism's desire to put a single person in a position of ultimate power as personification of the national identity. This means that every liberal democracy needs counter measures against fascism as it will most likely always re-emerge due to human nature of disliking change. I am also pretty sure that it's tied to the existence of capitalism which needs somewhat liberal societies, too.

People misuse the term fascism so often that it has turned into a generic meaningless insult. Fascism is private ownership over the means of production, but government control. Also frequently described as the merger between corporate and government control and societal influence. That's it. This isn't a positive or negative statement, that's simply what fascism is.

@@user-pn4dp4br7n yes and no, but as you can see here, the concept of this new, hyper-capitalist fascism also extends to having the government become a puppet of corporations. A week into his mandate, he's redacted (well, not him, one of his lackeys, but there's so much lore to how this guy got where he is I'd be here all day) a Mega Emergency Decree with over 300 modifications or derogations to existing laws, and new laws. Emergency Decrees here work in a way that allows the president to bypass Congress, in the sense that the Law Project doesn't get discussed. In this Mega Decree he's done the following: - Completely liberated the economy, there are laws that made it so big corps HAVE to supply the inner market first. No more. The price of meat has gone up over 70% in days. Inflation is going up at a rate of 10-30% every day. It's insane. (He's campaign motto was, btw "I'm an expert in creating economic growth, with or without money". Now he's saying "There's no money" to justify the fact that his reform is going to be paid by working class people) - He's derogated a law that regulates how renting works. Before, you could only have your rent go up twice a year and for a certain amount. Now there's no limits to: how much it goes up for, how often, and in what you pay for. They've literally said you could pay in USD, crypto or gallons of milk. Not a joke. - He's declared that over three people out on the street without a "clear motive" is now considered a demonstration/protest and you can be profiled by police/arrested. - He's lowered the floor on income taxes, before an Argentinian that made about $2000 USD a month would pay income taxes, now that's going to be $975 USD. (Rent in the capital is like 250-375 USD a month for a one bedroom apparment and about 46% of working adults make less than this). Very libertarian, ey? - He wants to increase the faculties of the executive power (so, him) to be able to legislate new laws, again, bypassing the need for Congress, effectively annuling our republican system. - There are specific articles that exist to help specific corporations, it's insane. There's one that de-regulates satellital communication/internet companies. Starlink is mentioned by name. - And he's also estatized private debt for mega corporations (idk if that's how you say it and idc to check at this point), effectively bailing out and making the state have the burden of payment of all the debt his friends' companies have taken. One of the main benefactors of this is literally his Economy Minister, as one of these corporations he's co-founder of. So yeah, there's some ancap/libertarian dogma there, but if you look into it it's just orthodox liberalism with extra steps and a crazy amount of power put into the president. I only mentioned a few articles thay modify the meat & bones of the Executive's power, not the absolutely disgusting hyper capitalist garbage like the derogation of the Law that stops people from burning our greenlands, if you find a version of the Decree in English I recommend giving it a cursory read as it's just insane how a guy that won a Ballotage with 55% of the vote can become Napoleon, lol. Most of this stuff is inconstitutional and I'd doubt it'll be approved (as it DOES have to go through Congress as it affects punitive, and tax things), but the problem is that it's in effect until that moment, and our legislative power is quite slow. So yeah we have a libertarian that hates freedom, apparently

Great video, very well explained. I want to elaborate a little further on how capitalism is linked to fascism. Fascism is a late stage symptom of a declining capitalist society, it’s a defense mechanism of capitalist to shift the blame of the current economic deterioration onto marginalized and easily exploited groups. Doing so allows capitalists to maintain their power and”capital while maintaining a worker bee society of party members and slaves. To people who are reading this thinking you are a capitalist, you most likely are not, you are proletariat , capitalists own more than personal property such as housing and cars and food, they own your roads, your utilities, your banks, and the just about everything else that proletariat/working class people keep running. You aren’t a soy lib for accusing these people of fascism if you are doing it out of fear for the rights of your friends, family, and neighbors.

I do believe it’s more of an issue of complacency and corruption when dealing with corporations rather than the fault of their existence as a whole. Countries like Norway, Botswana, Estonia - they have dominating industrial complexes and corporations that peer over Oil, Raw resources and Specific goods, but even with these big corporations they’re able to keep them in check. The US however, simply hasn’t made the effort in recent decades to limit or curtail the big corporations, they gotten themselves deeply imbedded in the political system to the point of almost no return, to rising frustration because of it. The existence of corporations alone isn’t enough to see the threat of friendly fascism, but it’s the corruption and lack of integrity of officials and people in power that lead down that road.

I like the sentiment of this video but a lot of the points are made in bad faith. The onus is on the government to regulate corporations rather than collude with them, so the idea that the blame for our present situation should lie on companies (w/ no legislative ability) rather than the state is backwards. Secondly, the disaffected masses who have turned to authoritarian movements have only done so because they have been left behind both economically and in terms of representation; a lot of media discussing modern authoritarian movements likes to mention and pity them yet bash relatively more productive principles such as economic protectionism. This video is correct, in that there is an extreme danger in turning away from our liberal institutions, however it does not realize that the people running them are themselves the ones culpable in institutional failure and are perpetuating incompetent government.

Imagine society as a big school. In this school, there are different groups of students. Some are very rich and have a lot of influence (like the popular kids), and some are not so rich and have less power (like the average students). Zizek talks about how in our society, there are two main ideas or "groups" that are sort of facing off against each other. First, there's "corpofascism." This is a bit like a group of very rich and powerful students who want to keep things mostly as they are because they benefit from it. They're like the popular kids who control a lot of what happens in school, but they don't always play fair. Then, there's "bourgeois liberalism." This is like another group in the school who are also quite well-off but believe in being more open and progressive. They're like the students who are well-off and talk a lot about making the school a better place for everyone, but they don't really want to change the things that make them popular and powerful. Zizek is saying that these two groups, even though they seem different, actually support each other in a way. You can't have the rich and powerful group (corpofascism) without having the other group (bourgeois liberalism) that talks about change but doesn't really shake things up too much. They both kind of like the way things are because they both benefit from it. Finally, Zizek mentions "progressivism." This is like a group in the school that genuinely wants to change things for the better and make the school fairer for everyone. However, Zizek thinks that this group is kind of stuck. They're part of the system they're trying to change, like students who want to change the school rules but are also part of the student council. So, making real change is hard for them, and sometimes, they might have to give up some of their ideas to really shake things up and get rid of the unfair differences between the rich and powerful students and the rest.In short, Zizek is saying that in our society, the groups that talk about change and the ones that want to keep things as they are both benefit from the way things currently work. And for real change to happen, especially to get rid of big differences in power and wealth, we might need to rethink and maybe even give up some of the ideas we've been holding onto@@tarqinquentinsson-obviousl957

@@TheEverFreeKing Of course I won't listen to it. But right-wing parties have made and/or are making some sort of return in popularity in a lot of countries. It could be that with the rise of populism every election is now based on how much a party can "promise" to the masses, regardless of actually fulfilling those promises once in the position to do so or having the means to do it in the first place. At least that's what I'm seeing where I live, in Italy, where the current majority party is still considered the "opposition" despite having the majority of the votes. That's because their main selling point during the election campaign was that they would provide to the people what other parties wouldn't, and now that they've been in the position to be able to help said people for more than a year they still haven't gotten anything done yet, apart from the many reforms in favor of tax evasion and other terrible "solutions" for refugees coming from Africa.

It's because people feel threatened, with everything they've been promised to them by liberalism and conservatism alike denied to them their whole lives, with so much focus on issues that seem more as pandering than proper issues. This means they're frustrated and angry at everything, as well as that being on top of everything mentioned within the video. Combine that with the national myth of revolution and the deep running patriotism in most Americans, you get this.

@jackalenterprisesofohio
@jackalenterprisesofohio Жыл бұрын
Well, its not really capitalism per say, I believe personally, that it is the stock market. Think about it, why did the top stock exchange stocks holders, those being in Congress, have better performing stocks than even the top stock exchange holder companies. If Company B Co. says to Mr. Congrossman of Bigstate that if they pass a bill that allows them to set up a whatever in Bigstate their stocks, specially the ones Mr. Congrossman owns, were to make more monies, well you know what would happen. This is why I support capitalism without a stock market, because a stock market allows people who do not care about even the companies they own stakes in, I mean there are numerous accounts and reports of actual morally good or even just normal small to middle-sized businesses being "bought out" through the stock market, into basically control by the people who now own that business, which they them drive straight to the ground, or even liquidate immediately. I mean if businesses were owned by people who actually own owned the business they would take more precautions about the business making good ethical decisions, because if you're allowing your company to dump toxic waste into your own town, then you're going to suffer the consequences, but if Miss Butterfingers 20 states away "lobbies" the local politician to allow the dumping of the toxic waste, they arnt going to feel the effects, and even if it climbs all the way up to their position, they can just sell the stocks before it reaches them, leaving the blame on the next person who buys the stocks.

I think another big part of combating the fear an anxiety the new right depends on is dismantling their narratives of mythification and inevitably. They're not these "populist leaders of the masses", they're third-rate grifters with the backing of oligarchs who *hate* the masses. We shouldn't take the self-agrandising nonsense they tell with any degree of good faith.

At 09:58 , I don’t think this is a fair critique of people who lean to the right. Most don’t blame the expert liberal elites but see them as useful idiots who have and are being used to usher in big business through a corrupted ‘liberal democracy’ which has no higher orientation other than material wealth. And for the ones who do blame the ‘libtards’, their opinion has been given to them by corporate media too. ‘We are fond of talking about 'liberty'; but the way we end up actually talking of it is an attempt to avoid discussing what is 'good.' We are fond of talking about 'progress'; that is a dodge to avoid discussing what is good. We are fond of talking about 'education'; that is a dodge to avoid discussing what is good. The modern man says, 'Let us leave all these arbitrary standards and embrace unadulterated liberty.' This is, logically rendered, 'Let us not decide what is good, but let it be considered good not to decide it.' He says, 'Away with your old moral standard; I am for progress.' This, logically stated, means, 'Let us not settle what is good; but let us settle whether we are getting more of it.' He says, 'Neither in religion nor morality, my friend, lie the hopes of the race, but in education.' This, clearly expressed, means, 'We cannot decide what is good, but let us give it to our children.’ G.K Chesterton

Thank you, the notion that that right just loves corporations is rhetoric at this point. The neocon/neolib part of the GOP likes corporations, the "New" Right is outright antagonistic to corporate interests. Take border security, for instance. Only the "New Right" cares about it at all. And all for profit for a tiny number of greedy sociopaths and their power hungry parasites and minions aka most of our politicians

Well academically the main goal of a corporation is "Maximazation of long term value of the company" or "Maximazing the value to shareholders". In recent times new ideas emerged like "Maximazation of staholder value", but thats no longer capitalism. Generally speaking this whole documentary is pointless and presented analysis is pointless. If you saw a person being driven by the first two principles i mentioned, it would be obvious he is "sociopathic". What has to be mentioned tho is that the view of "big businesses" as only profit seeking or any corporation for that matter is really retarded, since shareholders (owners) might have a different agenda, views or goals. They are human and so might decide that a corporation should carry out their will and so many corporations will not be only profit seeking and "sociopathic".

I don't have anything to add to this; it's perfectly summarized. To be honest, I know with the increase of essays on the creeping fascism and the deliberate degredation of our rights and political power, that there are many people who are worried of an impending collapse of our society. Myself though, am more relieved now than I was just a few years go. While only in my early twenties, I've been ranting and raving about the insidiousness of our current politicians since early high school, only to be told I was overreacting. It's only recently that I have seen such a surge in the awareness of others, which means that people are finally waking up to the problem, and the more people awake, the better we can stand together to solve it! To my fellow Americans, whether you stand on the right or the left, Democrat or Republican, young or old, urban or rural, natural born or immigrant, let us all stand united as proud citizens and protect our freedoms from the billionaires, politicians, and authoritarians who seek to turn us against each other. Our opinions may differ, but let us work together to protect our right to have opinions. Our nation is a great one, but it can always be better; let us be proud of what we have, and strive to improve it ever more. Best wishes one and all.

Fascism is authoritarian corporatism. Mussolini was attempting to rebuild the Western Roman Empire so the nationalism angle was questionable as Roman was the center of the Roman Empire. Globalism is still going to have at least one capital city just like every nation does. A empire with several nations under it can be just as fascist as a single city. So get the correct definition of fascism.

The argument in this video comes very close to the truth, but in the end, it just gives us a failed solution: double down on the failing institutions of liberalism. But that is no answer, because it does not address corporate dominance of politics. The argument also seems to think that what is happening now is somehow an aberration in American politics. In reality, the relatively healthy liberal institutions of the postwar era were the anomaly. Corporate domination of the government was somewhat restrained in those years only because of the unique circumstances of history: the depression, the rise of communism/socialism, WWII, the civil rights movement. The rich and powerful made a compromise during the New Deal era to prevent revolution. It lasted for a few decades, but was vigorously opposed by the right after WWII, and started dying in the 70s. The liberal compromise is now well and truly dead. So what is the answer? The answer is that we must address the root of the problem, which is the very existence of large centers of unaccountable economic and political power. That is, we must address the existence of capitalism itself. This means we must engage in a politics aimed at the elimination of corporate America. Capitalism must be abolished, and replaced by socialist institutions run by, and answerable to, the people who are part of them, and the larger public which is affected by their activities. Abolish corporations. Abolish billionaires. Abolish capitalism NOW.
