True statement if one supports legitimate, evidence based, trauma treatment. Some of them need to have their executive functioning skills healed so they aren't vulnerable to these predators. Many times, some of these veterans leaned towards the Neo-Nazi beliefs before entering the military. They're just using their war experiences as a reason to continue their beliefs. The comments made by Jeremiah at about 27:02 "..I think a lot of guys were lost and wanted hope.." and at about 28:16 "...they (combat veterans) had the fighting spirit that the National Socialists of the 1920's had..." are so inflammatory and insulting towards the majority of combat veterans. These type of people aren't true, veteran service members. They're feeble- minded racists, who happen to be veterans, looking to use the violence of war and their Middle East experiences against American citizens for their own purposes.

The majority of men in my family during WW2 returned back to normal lives and we're productive members of society. Back In the nineties I did investigations between the public and private sector. I was a private investigator around a number of veterans. All the veterans I met were productive . My point is those who become terrorists do it on their own - the military didn't do it to them. I mean, it's not just US history. There's a strong correlation between the aftermath of warfare and reactionary movements in general. There's a good psychological reason for this. As a veteran, most soldiers returning for war want things to 'go back to how they were before'. This desire is born in combat, where holding onto memories of home as it was helps to keep you sane and helps you to cope and rationalize the war you are fighting in. One of the hardest things for most returning veterans is dealing with the changes (small and large). When I got home from 5 years overseas (including two tours in Iraq), one of the things that bothered me the most in my small town, oddly enough, was a big new shopping complex that had been built while I was gone. It was different; it messed with the whole 'back to how things were'. Other guys struggle with different household routines, a new jobs, etc. Thus, returning veterans are psychologically more likely to embrace conservative or reactionary ideologies. These ideologies invariably promise to return things to a 'better point in time'. Most reactionary groups will pander to veterans even more by taking on the trappings of brotherhood that the military had. Military uniforms, training, lingo...all these things help veterans to feel more 'at home'. This is deliberate as reactionary movements recognize the value that veterans bring to them in terms of organization, discipline and military skill sets. Why doesn't this happen with radical movements? Sometimes it does, normally when the existing government and old status quo were indisputably corrupt (such as in Imperial Russia). However, veterans will generally support reactionary movements because of that promise to 'return things to the way they were'. It appeals to the psyche of someone who has been through mental/emotional trauma and stayed sane in part by thinking of an idealized version of 'how things were at home'.

My parents suffered a lot more than I did and lived under Jim Crow legal segregation and they provided for me. I didn't live under legal segregation, but I am aware that it had an effect on my life and I'm able to pinpoint how, where, when and why and what level. I also know there were so many times when there wasn't bigotry and I have been blessed to have friends and relatives from different races, cultures and ethnicities. Now on responsibility, yes that is important. But I would not choose to be so arrogant and blind to think that I did it all by myself because that way is deceitful and false and leads to confusion, frustration, madness and misery.

I joined the Navy fresh out of high school and during my time I became familiar, as all sailors do, with the Navy's core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. These values and what they mean had a profound effect on how I live my life and conduct myself even though I'm no longer in the service. Associating, advocating or tolerating any person or group that condones or executes acts of violence upon innocent people whether it's in the name of liberation, racism, or political ideology, to me, is a massive betrayal of these values. As a combat veteran, it's crazy to me that people come back from war and want to hurt innocent people. My time overseas, in multiple conflict zones as a soldier and contractor, taught me that no matter where you go, the vast majority of people are just trying to live their lives and protect their families. An old WW2 veteran, since deceased (RIP, my friend) said it to me best. Life is far too beautiful to waste it on hatred, and it's sad that we had to go to war to figure that out.

I am a Veteran. After I left the military I married a former Vet that went back into the Army shortly after we married. Major Altenburg I saw many of the Officers, and Chief's engage in blatant racism. The same racist acts were happening when my husband went back into the service. I see this as a serious issue. Enlisted service members serving under racist Officers act without consequences. This is rampant in every branch of the military.

I was a great fan of US as a kid because of WWF and Movies, then as I grew up I admired US for its role in WW2. They fought a noble war if we can attach that word with war. I have read extensively about WW2 even though my family was not directly effected by it. Majority of court records are public information. With social media, it is easy to figure out how many of the same people Like and comment on someone's site. Like playing 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. With a name and a birth date, you can find all kinds of personal data on someone. Search engines are another great tool to use when investigating someone. However, this is too much work for a lot of people who prefer to get their alt-facts from memes.
