There's a comic where Tony straight up melts inside of his armor and forces everyone into more armor to "protect" them and no one calls that canon. Saying "Tony became doom in canon" isn't true cause it was a what if where Victor and Tony swap minds and even then he still never became evil dictator doom just wearing a color swapped costume.
