Talking stage = you're shopping around, evaluating if the person will be a casual hookup, potential partner, or a roster participant. Dating = you're done shopping but you haven't reached the check out desk yet. You've invested the research, evaluated other options and have your heart set on this person. Going on dates, meeting their friends. You'll likely reach the check out desk soon so long nothing gets in your way. Relationship = you have reached the check out desk and completed your purchase. It's now time to take it home with you and assimilate it into your everyday life. A lot people confuse the talking stage with the dating stage and sex makes it even more confusing because some people see sex as casual while others see it a big deal. It's not *totally* wrong to see other people during the talking stage, but it is wrong to do it during the dating stage. If you're talking almost everyday, and you're going out on dates at least once a week, you're probably dating. If you're casually texting, and maybe going out for drinks here and there, you're likely in the talking stage. Just communicate, use your emotional intelligence and ask if you're not sure, he will either give you a straight honest answer, or will hesitate to say something. If he hesitates or does not want to say, leave that man, sis 👏🏼 or don't catch feelings :)

This May sounds childish lol but my husband and I were on the talking stage we were about 19/20 years old about three months in. I peeped something on social media, another girl posting him as his MCM lol. I didn’t say anything. We were texting everyday, we knew we liked each other bc we told one another but didn’t made it official or anything. However, once I saw that I didn’t say anything but then changed the tone from flirting texting to dry friend texting 🤣 didn’t mention the girl until he asked a few days later what was wrong or why had I changed my tone. I’m like it’s not my place bc we are just friends but also if I’m talking to someone more than a more than friend basis and I feel like it’s not going to go anywhere we can be friends. Well we have been together 8 years and have three kids now lol
