Typhoon June passed through the Mariana Islands November 22, 1975. Schools were closed and neighbors, Lisa Porter & sisters Leilani and Marta Elstrom, decided to make an audio tape to Lisa's grandparents in Massachusetts. Lisa & her parents lived at number 8 Pink Apartments on Saipan from September 1975 till August 1976 when they moved to Navy Hill and remained there until August 1983. The Elstroms lived in number 1 Pink Apartments until June 1976, when Leilani, Marta and parents moved to their grandmother's in Ebeye. The girl’s moms, Seni Elstrom & Kit Porter were also friends.
The girls loved to sing and here is a selection of songs in Kosraean, Marshallese, Samoan & English, Christmas songs, and some folk songs from that typhoon day in November, 1975.
