Emily was naive enough to give him a third chance after seeing him and Rachel at the airport wanting to fly into THEIR honeymoon. Emily would‘ve never gained the trust you need to make a marriage work. Their marriage was doomed right in that moment when he said Rachels name.

It’s hard to tell. In another world I don’t think it’s an unreasonable request, to ask your husband not to hang around his ex when there may be feelings still there. But as a result he’s banished from his entire friend group, yeah it would not work out at all. And a good wife wouldn’t completely alienate her husband from his friends

Even if Ross wanted to stop seeing Rachel, it's physically impossible to do so since he sees her everyday and she's always around on a daily basis. She did do many things wrong, it just was never going to work. Both Ross and Emily broke up their relationship (although it was Ross' mistake at the wedding that really set it off, but Emily made her own choices), just as it was both Ross and Rachel that broke up the relationship. You can't say that it was all Ross' fault or that he's the only toxic one when Emily has also displayed "toxic" actions and decisions. If anything, she should've just broken it off. Because what's the point of trying to fix it if she was just going to basically punish Ross and control him.....

I really felt bad for Emily, she gave her best each time, at the alter she controlled her anger and didn't embarrass Ross and Rachel. But she still showed up at airport, but again at airport she saw them board together and it was not at all wrong to not want to see Rachel with ross again. She was never wrong and finally when she knew she can't trust them she left. She was just a victim in Ross and Rachel's messed up toxic love.It wasn't Emily's work to understand their chnaging equation it was Rachel's duty to stay away from Ross when he finally found someone and it was Ross duty to make his partner feel secured.

Instead of discussing what happened like a mature adult, Emily proceeds to rant like a child and run into hiding, leaving Ross to think that she never wants to see him again. 3. When Ross gets in touch with Emily, he says all the right things apologizes and is willing never to see his friends to save his marriage. 4. Emily becomes a crazy person and makes Ross sell all his furniture and move from his apartment because Rachel has been in there. 5. Emily calls Monica’s apartment and asks who’s all there like searching for trouble. At this point, Rachel is essentially being banned from her own living room until Ross finally speaks up and tells her Rachel is there eating dinner for the last time. 6. Emily then wants to know where Ross is at all times. That is abusive and controlling behaviour. They both realize they can’t go through with it and get a divorce. Main takeaway is this, either trust your partner or get out of the relationship. Emily wasn’t willing to handle it like an adult and instead made Ross’s life miserable over a terrible mistake. If Emily would’ve went for divorce immediately you’d be correct. However, she was willing to make the marriage work only if she could control his life.

Ross and Rachel after being together for so many times and years couldn't decide whether they should stay together or not. But just after talking over phone for 3 times Emily makes a final decision. Yet much more mature then Ross and Rachel. And Emily punches Ross in private so she doesn't humiliate him, but Ross does.

To be honest, this is why it's never a good idea to get involved with someone who still has a close friendship with an ex, it wasn't realistic to expect Ross not to see Rachel anymore, she was his sister's best friend and roommate, they shared the same friends group, Ross & Rachel would have seen each other at weddings, gatherings, Christmas etc ... I felt really bad for Emily here ... it was a kind of a dead end road for her at this point.
