So this parachute is a knapsack, imagine jumping out of a plane and you think you had put on a parachute and then turns out it was just a regular old backpack. Chandlers intent to say something sweet and comforting backfired, that intent is like thinking your wearing a parachute, Monicas actual reaction is like realizing that you have no parachute and now your falling to your death. Does that make sense?
