I think if Emily and Ross had spent more time together in New York beforehand the whole wedding 'wrong name' mess in London never would have happened. Emily would have known how close Ross and Rachel still were and realised the marriage was doomed and Ross would have realised Rachel would always be 'the other woman' as long as she was in his life.

Personally, i loved Emily and i wanted to end the series as a couple with Ross. I always thought she was cute but fear, hurt and jealousy for Rachel, turned her controlling. I believe Ross and Rachel is a toxic relationship, full of jealousy and obsession but not real love and support. I believe Ross should have stayed with girls like Emily or Mona..

I think the problem started with all of the twist of season 3... The cheating was unnecessary. And even so, they could have used season 4 as a chance to explore other issues and situations in Roschel's relationship. Instead they had to go for the We were on a break stuff.... Plus, I LOVE Smart Joey!! Insisting on stupidity really takes away a lot of the character development...

Friends started with Ross and Rachel and people shipped them really well back then but no one watches a show if everything is smooth so writers have made it that way if you look at they have put ross and Rachel cliffhangers at every final episodes in almost 8 seasons of friends.they should have gotten back together when Emma was born or they could have made it in such a way that both worked on their relationship things by 5th or 8 th season but writers have dragged it by bringing Joey and made their pair as really toxic in friends.

I never understood why writers didn't get Ross and Emily together. I mean they were perfect for each other. Sure, he liked Rachel for years, but falling in love with someone from the first time and also connect at an emotional level, you don't see that everyday. If he wasn't obsessed over Rachel he would've been much better off with Emily in my opinion. With Rachel it was on and off, I mean she even thought of being with Joey... And when Ross happened to say Rachel instead of Emily (not the wedding scene) they made up their minds that he would say Rachel instead of Emily in the wedding scene. And from there I guess it got natural for Ross to eventually end up with Rachel. Could have been about this and also that they understood from audience feedback that most people wanted Ross and Rachel to be together. 🙂
