As a Native American it’s so interesting to see the different ways others make Navajo tacos. Like I have never seen anyone use milk before, but I believe that there is more than one way to make something, I hope you guys enjoyed them!:)) personally I’m not a fan😅 mostly because I don’t like fried foods lol but I like seeing others venturing out trying food from different cultures.

Yes same here. I'm always nervous about how non-Natives will make it lol most always include milk. 😯 Actually a few tribes do use milk. Most of us use what we had though only water and flour from commodities. I was shocked by the yeast and butter... I love frybread even if it is a survival food.. we made it our own.😊

I am Muskogee Creek Indian, from Oklahoma. My grandma makes herself w water but she's an expert at getting the flour off her hands. I know milk makes it easier for the flour to come off your hands. We mix our's with our hands instead of a fork. Although, my aunt who married into a Cherokee family and the tear open a paper bag and pour the flour on it and make a mountain of flour and make a hollow bowl inside mix it like that. We Creeks like fry bread round and fluffy. There is a joke about but I won't say it.

Just a tip: Don't over work the dough for the fry bread, it makes it really tough. It should be fluffy on the inside after it's fried.

This was such a great collab, I can’t wait to see more from you guys!😊 Also, I have a recommendation, to prevent having to drain so much oil or water after cooking so much meat, you need to let the meat defrost before you put it in the pan. By not letting the meat defrost it makes the process of cooking meat harder and way longer; this is just something I’ve learned with the years of cooking and recipes passed down by my family :)

We eat lots of pickled onions in the uk, but we use either whole pickled shallots or pearl onions. Pickled onions are part of something called a ploughman’s lunch which is pickled onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese, crusty bread with butter on and cold meats with something called a pork pie which is sausagemeat baked in a cold water pastry. We also serve that with something called pickle which is crunchy vegetables cooked in a spicy vinegary sauce.

There are many variations of sweet Indian fry bread too. Get a paper bag and put a cinnamon, sugar mixture in it and as soon as you take the fry bread out of the oil, put it in the bag and shake it. My family did this with our tortillas when we were children. 😊
