I have a funny headcanon story for Meta Knightmare Meta Knight forgot his cape in the ultimate washing machine known as the Dream Fountain, of course not having his cape would ruin his reputation, so he has to go back to the fountain as fast as possible, defeating every foe who sees him so they wont tell anyone

I've never gotten over the fact that the giant hamster is just named Rick. He's a _giant magic hamster,_ yet he has a name every sixty year old man from Maryland has. That Metaknight's Mach Tornado actually aids a speedrun in Super Star Ultra makes it so much more satisfying to sit and watch. Has there ever been any Kirby spinoff games without Kirby? Or at least where he isn't the protagonist? I'm sure we can all agree Mr. Dooter needs his own GTA style game, where he runs (floats?) around the mean streets of an open world Waddledee village, wheeling and dealing :p

Dedede s Drum Dash Deluxe technically doesn't have Kirby, although you cardboard cutouts and a mask that gives you Kirby's voice. So there in spirit!

These modes are just one of many ways that Kirby games are amazing at having replayability. So many unique ways to experience the same game, and these modes especially encourage the player to want to get good by having a time trial focus. Genuinely some of the most simple but effective game design out there for making a game satisfying to play.

They're all brilliant, Guest Star Allies may be my least favorite but there's so much about it that I love. They're all so unique from each other, too, even the Meta Knightmares!

Guest Star Allies gives me the ability to go zippy-zip all over the place with Zan Partizanne, and that makes my brain happy, so I appreciate it as well. I am a being of simple pleasures.

Return Deluxe had a rough release window, being a few months before Tears of the Kingdom. If it had a better launch window I'm sure Magolor Epilogue would have popped off!

Dedede Tour is probably my favorite of these modes specifically for the portals (and admittedly my love for hammer)

Fun Trivia: A Meta Knightmare run is not valid unless you die at least once! (I debated using "Copy Ability Spotlight: Not Kirby" as the starting joke but I ended up liking this one better) (Actual Fun Trivia: WiKirby claims there was a developer Miiverse post which claims the fastest IGT a HAL developer got on Dededetour was 0:58:44.45 - that time would place 10th on the speedrundotcom leaderboard) Kirby-less time attack modes are really cool, even as a casual Kirby player - that timer encourages one to try gain a time as quickly as possible, and all of these modes stand out in their own way. The bits of criticism I have (e.g. Dededetour being very hefty on Segment 6, SMEX not allowing for elemental abilities when solo) are very minor and it's surprising how fun and fresh they made what is essentially semi-recycled content.

I love doing ruins with an external timer (see most any %s) but having an In Game Timer really makes speedruns more satisfying for the larger player base. Especially when the timer disappears near the end, like most Kirby boss rushes do! Also I completely forgot about that Miiverse post! Getting a Top 10 time is impressive.
