Name ideas: Zenit (zenith-in keeping with the “star” theme) Willen (willing-what we all pray for our horses to become) So…I don’t speak Dutch, but I had a couple of ideas and consulted the dictionary, so please forgive any ignorance or offense if my translation is incorrect. I was just thinking it would be lovely to keep with the uplifting nature of name calling to something greater than ourselves. I think we can all use that right now. I liked Willen because the phonetic similarity recalled to me your wonderful King, the long association of horses and kings and I didn’t know if the naming rules allowed for the foal to be named Willem. But moreover, the idea that the best teaching or training isn’t in achieving compliance, but to achieve a willingness to follow, as in the word “disciple”, coming from the Latin word, discipline/disciplina, which means to follow out of love and respect. So, for example, when we discipline our children, or ourselves, the goal is to be followed, not out of fear, but out of love and respect. I see so much of that idea exemplified in the relationships we are privileged to watch on the horse farm, that “Willen” seemed like a lovely idea for a meaningful name. I have no doubt that whatever the names, these beautiful animals will bring love and beauty to the world for many years to come. Thank you again, Heather, for the kindness of your response. Its origin is Hebrew, but they might use it there. But since Risey's mom was not a Friesian, she may have had a non-Dutch/non-Friesian name.

For Frisian names, I think Yvo, Wout and Wilko are fun! It seems hard to find very many that start with W, X, Y, Z. Other names that are not specifically Frisian, but are still very nice: Zelda, Yvette, Willemina, Wim, Valentijn, Zeger.

So nice to meet Kim. I just love Sjors because he's protective, cheeky, and the boss, right Elianne? Lol! Just teasing! He can be sweet and so chill. For Frisian names, I have to crack open the Betty Neels novels which mostly feature young British women nurses and rich Dutch doctors. Here are Betty's Dutch heroes for the colts, not sure if Frisian: Yvo, Waldo, and Walle. The Dutch "other women" don't start with W,X,Y,Z, unfortunately. But I agree with some commenters here that we should have "Yvonne" or some variation, even we already had a horse Yvonne.
