As a breeder, I really respect you for being picky about what mares are suitable to breed. It is always disappointing when some dont make the cut, but the difference between a high quality breeder and a ‘back yard sale’ breeder is that they will continue a line that does not have a chance of success. A lot of people don’t understand that we cannot preserve the finest standard of the breed if we continue producing foals that dont meet that expectation. We are not “getting rid” of them- we are selling them to homes that will only ride and not breed them. We can only keep the best, or the breed will suffer! This is the responsible thing to do and I appreciate you explaining that!

But the attitude of improving the “standards” of a breed are the reason why so many purebreds have major health problems. Too much goes into how they look and nothing else. It happens with race horses and dogs most of all but other breed as well.

She is an absolute queen isn’t she? Good video capturing her teaching him not to run into or under the wire. And catching that obvious loving horse hug he gave her was priceless. If he manages to pick up even half that famous friesan high stepping trot just through intimate association, which is highly likely, he’s going to become a good prospect of an unbeatable dressage champion. Hopefully he will grow up to be a sound adult. He’s going to be one of the most exciting horses to follow in recent decades, or at least, has all the right makings and the right start to be. Awesome. Congratulations. It’s sad a that it had to start with such tragic loss first. That should not be forgotten.

Thanks to the owner of Rising Star and of course Yyvone who made this all possible I cannot imagine the damage to both foal and mare if left unanswered but alas the universe made this union a sweet and renewal of hope of spirit and there is nothing more healing than love and a mother's love in every living creature goes beyond their own suffering when it comes to a baby. This was so only because of the unwavering complete dedication and expert professional protocol and self standards we see clearly in every video by her own actions concerns and attention to detail but also clearly in the appearance behavior and obvious finest upbringing by the tireless care given to these Friesian horses.

Look at our little redheaded boy go he’s learning to float/dance like a Friesian Uniek is so very proud of him. Do you by chance know what happened to Rising Star’s birth mother? I am very new to this channel, subbed a few days ago when YT randomly offered me the video where Uniek gave birth to her stillborn baby and then adopted Rising Star. Such a heartwarming story! I think I’ve watched all the videos with them since, but missed the explanation of how RS was orphaned. Also, I think the initial video said RS was born one day prior to the foster adoption, is that correct? I subbed to follow Uniek and RS foster and because I love the way Yvonne interprets and explains the body language of the horses. I’m an avid viewer of four channels that do that for rhesus macaques and snow monkey macaques. I know next to nothing about horses but might be getting hooked into learning about them here. 😊
