I would have preferred Cell over Freeza. Not only does Cell know all the main attacks of almost every character, but can also heal because of Piccolo and gets a power boost from it because of his Saiyan DNA. While not as strong as Buu, he has many of the benefits and is a better strategist as well. Plus if you want to explain any boost in power Cell may undergo, it could be explained as him training in HFIL or he could blow himself up a lot and get a boost over and over again.

That kinda kills it for him at the same time. Freeza has moves that the others do NOT have. Cell can just replicate whatever the Z fighters have. And while that is quite resourceful, it might not be as MARKETABLE. We all know how MARKETABLE a character using a NEW AWESOME TECHNIQUE is.

I think that it would have been interesting if, in the scenario that Cell came back, that he requested that Gohan join him in the Room of Spirit and Time. That way, they could give some interesting interactions between them, and have Cell train up to a level that would make him a force to be reckoned with (though perhaps not the level of Golden Freeza, as they do have a limited amount of time to work with).

Actually you can kill Dead people, they're slightly more durable as in they're like Zombies but they can die, and once you kill them, they cease to exist, as was explained in DBZ for the fear of any time something dire was happening to the other world or someone who was only revived for a day.

Perfect Cell is far more balanced than Frieza, I like Cell because he was just generally a more well rounded villain. If you took away his Frieza genes and Gero programming, he'd be pretty much a Saiyan/Human/Namekian hybrid. Cell likes to learn and get stronger, he made a tournament and likes to fight with rules, he even had concern for the planet being destroyed by Goku's Kamehameha. He'd be a far better choice as a team player and more believable as someone who would "turn good" similar to Vegeta.

Antoine Gérard I get that Cell is smart but the reason he has refined language and is as intelligent as he is, is because he has Frieza's cells. Frieza before Piccolo fused with Kami was the smartest being that made up Cell. Frieza is very intelligent and that's where Cell gets it I'll say they're even and before it bring up how smart Gohan is Remember when Cell was being created, Child Gohan and Piccolo before fusing with Kami or syncing with Nail were the samples taken. Cell isn't smarter than Frieza They're about equal in intelligence, if not Frieza more due to being around to rule the universe. Cell just acts more the part.

Frieza gets brought back to life and his first instinct was to go after the Saiyans who defeated and killed him and use a form on them that he didn't even completely understand? Doesn't sound very intelligent to me. And then when he gets there, he could've just blown up the planet and won, but he decides to just toy around with his prey until Goku and Vegeta show up and give them the chance to beat him instead? Only thinking to blow up the planet when he's about to die? Still doesn't sound very intelligent. And then in the original arc, Goku goes to show him mercy and Frieza knows that he's outmatched, but instead of accepting Goku's mercy and using that as an opportunity to flee and recover or get stronger, he decides to try and stab Goku in the back? Again, doesn't sound very intelligent to me. I think Frieza sounded and acted more intelligent, but that Cell was by far the more intelligent one. Cell was cocky and played around a lot, but he did that because he knew that he could. He knew that no one there could beat him. So, yeah. I think that Cell is smarter than Frieza, but he should be because he isn't only made up of Frieza. He's made up of multiple different beings, so you'd think that the combined intelligence of multiple beings including Frieza should weigh in at more than Frieza's individual intelligence.

Antoine Gérard Cell isn't exactly smarter than Freeza as a whole but he does know more about combat containing the cells of many trained fighters (as Freeza himself had never actually trained until Resurrection F and even then didn't have any kind of teacher)

Abo Abomi Frieza is very impulsive, while he's intelligent he's arrogant, and wants to the galatic overlord he doesn't want restrain himself, why should he? but in the situations where he actually thinks before he acts like when he decided to train after his revival. or when he called in the Ginyu Force on Namek. Frieza when fighting is Sadistic like when fought Vegeta he wanted to break him before killing him and wanted to break Goku as well for personal game. Frieza even when backed to corner will do what he thinks is the best option when he was getting trashed around by Vegeta in the movie. he was smart enough to know his only option to win was blowing up the planet. same thing happened in Namek he realized the only way he could defeat Goku as a SSJ was to blow up the planet. He survived both explosions and would have won due to his thinking had Goku not found a ship or if Whis didn't turn back time. Cell has that similar thinking where he wanted to blow up the planet vs Gohan as a SSJ2 with a Kamehameha which Gohan stopped he also realized the only way he could win after losing 18 was to blow himself up. these are things he did that where the only way he could theoretical win in his given situation which were gotten from Frieza. The real difference is Cell isn't as impulsive as Frieza he's willing to be more calm and patient his Ego isn't as large as Frieza. therfore his intelligence shines more. he's able to access the situation like when he decided vs Piccolo the best course of action was to retreat, absorb more people and try again later while he was in his imperfect form. Frieza does have knowledge of the Universe the planets that inhabit them like Namek and access to advance Technology it's not a reach to say Frieza didn't have an excellent formal education along with the fact he's a prodigy. Cell only knows what he knows or at the very least what Gero wanted him to know while he was being created. which to be fair might be a lot but it's still limited to earth

Personally, I'd rather see a surviving Cell Jr. who spent the last 11 years NOT being a ****. Think about it. A version of "Cell" without the baggage of having BEEN Cell, and the time gap allowing the art team to tweek his personal design to, say remove the much dreaded spots? I call that a Win-Win. Maybe add a non-lethal grudge with Gohon for killing his brothers, and 17/18 not trusting him to spice it up.

Frieza' cold (no pun intended) and cruel nature combined with his power and the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, all of that actually makes for really good drama. Because we all know Frieza is going to be integral to reach victory but will also make him extremely unpredictable and just as much of a danger. We know we have to trust him but we can't trust him because he's Frieza! It's like trusting Joker to save a bus full of school children because he's the only one able to at the time, we know it's probably not going to end pretty.

Cell could probably get stronger than Frieza, he's never been shown to train and he has Frieza's DNA as well as Goku and Vegeta's so he could probably make just as much, if not more, progress if he did train, he could also go into the time chamber and spend 2 years training, and he's more intelligent and a better fighter than Frieza so he wouldn't make the same mistakes Frieza made with his golden form. Or he could just fly into open space, blow himself up, regenerate himself and repeat constantly. Also, side note, he could drain the opponents without killing them, like he did to Piccolo's arm, so he could strengthen himself and incapacitate his opponents simultaneously.

If he could do a few pushups and reach god level, why bother getting a perfect form? Gero first of all needs to have knowledge of Frieza’s inherit potential to make it compatible with cells other genes, and not to mention he would have to have knowledge of god Ki to incorporate that as a possibility within cell. So no, that’s complete fanfiction material not something that’s actually possible, biological engineering isn’t mixing colors in a paint bucket. You need to know of all of those genes beforehand and make them compatible, and like I said earlier, if cell had that much potential gero wouldn’t need to add a perfect or semi perfect form. “he could also go into the time chamber and spend 2 years training,” - the time chamber broke. And there wouldn’t be enough time for everyone if it wasn’t. Not to mention his potential is vague and Zenkai would give dimishing returns after a while, when his bodies cells recognize he isn’t actually in mortal danger. Azura's Cape you seem like you know more about this than me, so I won't argue too much, but let me just say that Gero created Cell specifically to absorb 17 and 18, as he couldn't control them and didn't want to waste them, so for all we know he could get stronger than that form, also frieza never had god ki so cell wouldn't need it to get that strong. Also, if he couldn't get any stronger than his perfect form, what's the point f him being able to absorb people, and how did the zenkai work for him? Also, I know this isn't canon, but he tried to absorb goku in gt, what was the point of that if he couldn't get stronger than his perfect form? Azura's Cape gero and cell did not know of piccolo's regeneration, gokus instant transmission, solar flare, or Saiyan zenkai boosts, YET he was able to use or benefit from all of them, they were not proceed into him, he learned them or discovered he had them like Regen and zenkai boosts, which the boosts alone would ensure he'd get far stronger then freiza ever could

Azura's Cape, Cell learned Instantaneous Movement from Goku after only seeing it a few times, allowing him to return to the fight almost instantly after regenerating from blowing himself up. It took Goku quite a long while to learn it on Yardrat (since Yardrats are a physically weak race, much of his year there was spent working on that technique, he wasn't fighting them). That alone gives a pretty good hint that Cell is more of a genius at technique and power progression than Goku is by several times over. He's also shown to have Zenkai boosts (he was way stronger after returning from blowing himself up), the ability to live with only small parts left intact like Frieza, and superior regenerative ability to Piccolo since his variant doesn't leave him exhausted (and can be regenerated from one single cell). He was also shown not to have Goku's weakness of being soft when his guard is dropped. He took a kienzan to the neck while he was completely ignoring what was going on around him! Edit: And it clearly wasn't a matter of higher power making the Instantaneous Movement easier to learn, as no other Z-Fighter or enemy since has learned it. We have seen it from TWO non-Yardrats. One took a year, one saw it less than what, a half dozen times?

I would also have greatly preferred Cell. I mean, not only is he much more intelligent, rational and, well, sane than Freeza, but it's also perfectly in his character to fight in the tournament like that. I mean, what better way to show his perfection to all of the multiverse? Plus, I think that Cell hasn't even come near the peak of his potential yet. If he has the same godlike potential Goku, Vegeta, or Freeza has, let alone all combined, and bothered to act on it rather than think he's good enough, he might genuinly become what Gero intended him to be: the _Ultimate_ Lifeform, surpassing even gods in a way that no other mortal possibly could.

Timjer but cell was built to match the Z story of the characters, he lost to Teen gohan in ssj2 which means he would have easily lost to ssj2 goku and Vegeta and even gotenks could defeat cell. The point is to get someone to replace majin Buu someone who. can fight at a lvl above ssj3. they don't want another strategist they have roshi, krillin and tien for that they need to replace a hard hitter someone on a level near Goku and Vegeta. With Frieza they have 4-5 people who can match the power of ssj blue

Another reason why Cell probably isn't getting considered is because of something Shin and Beerus imply early in the recruitment stage of the arc: being artificial. When Goku brings up 17 and 18 being androids (*coughactuallycyborgscough*), he expresses clear worry about whether they are actually eligible for the tournament; Goku assures him that the two are still humans, just made extremely powerful through machinery, and Beerus outright pretends that he didn't hear Goku say any of this so that he won't be docking the Universe 7 team from two powerful fighters. This heavily suggests that Beerus and Shin believe that artificial life forms aren't allowed in the tournament. Now, is this true? Probably not, after all Universe 4 seems to be all about using robots and cyborgs. But what matters is that Shin, and to some extent Beerus, believe it is the case. If they were iffy regarding 17 and 18, two genetically-modified humans, joining the tournament, as well as concerned about reviving an extremely powerful villain from the afterlife for the sake of competing in the tournament, would they really be accepting of a candidate who is essentially both of those things? Cell may be bio-synthetic, and his presence in Hell proves that he is in fact alive, but he's still artificial at the end of the day. At on top of that him being evil, and dead, and Shin and Beerus would probably both draw the line (albeit for different reasons: Shin due to the principle of the matter, and Beerus due to not wanting to risk breaking any rules that would get him erased).

There is a little problem with Cell, Masako: how Hell works. While in Z filler and GT, Hell was a clubhouse for the villains, in the manga and Super, is a place where they are punished until they decided to repent, and being reborn. That's how Uub was born. Frieza is so evil, that is trapped in a saccharine ironic hell, where he couldn't train at all, do anything. The same would apply to Cell, whatever his ironic hell is, he is possibly incapable of training his perfect body. Either that or he decided to repent and being reborn, but I found that unlikely.

If you recall correctly when he spat out 18 he reverted, but then he got a zenkai boost and came back in Perfect form regardless. I think it's tied to power rather than actually absorbing the androids. Not that they'd appreciate it. I doubt they wouldn't tolerate him for the duration of the tournament though.

Even without the "one time only" revival limit on the earth Dragon Balls, Goku never specified _when_ he was going to gather them to make the wish. For a skilled businessman, Frieza's being awfully complacent about letting the potential loopholes in his 'contract' with Goku run rampant. Cell can get zenkai boosts exactly like Saiyans due to genetics/design. So in theory, Cell could achieve a God status like Goku and Vegeta given enough time to train or if he were continously destroyed, as destruction seems to be the slight augmentation to Cell's particular zenkai boost advantage. He can grow in power through training and fighting or through regeneration.

Nerulon Skyven no you aren't, I am a much bigger fan of his Imperfect Form than his Perfect Form. Imperfect Cell was one of the most creepy and unsettling characters in the series, to me at least. Perfect Cell never left me as unsettled, and didn't leave me wondering how the heroes could win, unlike his imperfect form.
