About the rock/pebble noise by ellen w, you might check to see if "dirt dobbers" (wasps that make mud nests) have gotten into the outside fan unit. Where I live they are so bad that I had to wrap "all" the vents on the outside case of the AC with wire or fabric screen as you would use on a screen door to keep them out. When the unit was off they built mud nests on the fan and it sounded like all heck broke loose when turned on. Had to wash it out with high pressure water hose.

Thank you so, so much! I can't express how happy you have made me. I got the unit yesterday and was about ready to return it.

Just followed these same instructions for my LG window air conditioner - it sounded like a jet engine! I applied some poly foam weatherseal to the front housing and the filter cover - much better! Thanks for the tip!

THANK YOU! I just got this same unit and it's driving me crazy. Haven't had it a week and was considering returning it but I'll give this a try! It's in a window right by the head of my bed and right by MY head lol. I need some sleep.

Thanks! I have a newer model of the 6,000 and might need to add some pads along the plastic edges of the air filter to get it completely quiet but this significantly improved it. Thanks you

hey man, I have the same problem with my TCL it vibrates so much from the front (the area that is the filter), and it is so annoying. But my filter comes off/on from the side, any advised? Maybe i put some of these on my filter (around my filter?)

I've had 2 different models of these, the thing that sucks about them is that the blue wheel in the back that throws up condensation to increase cooling starts to rattle in the newer model. Pisses me off because no foam tape will fix that rattle. It just starts randomly. If you get any kind of black mold in it like mine does, Chlorox bleach cleaner spray will work. I just spray it right into the vent towards the mold, kills it off in a couple minutes. And you can tape a cotton swap into the end of a drinking straw, spray the swab and wipe the bits the spray won't reach. These units work well for the most part, just wish they'd have done a better job with the wheel.

I have one exactly the same as you to do. Is there anyway I can reduce the vibrating sound of air compressor so I can sleep well at night?

Slightly different Frigidaire window AC model, but exactly the same problem. Thank you so much for a free solution that solved it with 3 minutes of work. :)
@KuragariNoKaze4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I had the previous version, gave that to my brother and bought this one, they put that foam tape in there because they know the problem exists but don't want to engineer a more costly solution.

with mine it sounds like the fan is scraping against the Styrofoam on the inside, is there anyway to get to that part so I could maybe trim the foam down a bit around the fan? It's not really a rattling noise, is a SCRAPING noise.

Thanks so much Brett, I was wondering how to fix the rattle, i had read all the reviews and i didn't quite understand!:) i paid $167 for the a/c including tax at Lowes. I killed my last Frigidaire(was 5 yrs old), i left it in the window, didn't cover it up during the harsh Winter here in Indiana, and by the time Summer came, I turned it on & it "worked" but it started building up ice everywhere, then it would crack and fall, the first time i heard it, i thought someone was trying to break into my house, I screamed loudly....haha but NO, it was ice...then i looked in the back and there was a bunch of yucky brown stuff all over, wonder if it was the wasps making "dirt dobbers" that did it, like Dwane Stevens was talking about? don't know, but guess i'm gonna have to put some sort of mesh or screen covering on the outside portion of the unit, thanks for the heads up Dwane!:)

Hey what is the name of the foam pads? The link isn’t working. Thanks!
@GamingAmbienceLive5 жыл бұрын
*I guess they include all those foams and glue thingies for a purpose, if you dont use them they rattle, if dampened the rattle is lesser? I will have to try and see*

I've had this AC for a year and it's been great. I went to turn it on last week and it sounds like there's a rock/pebble being knocked around in there (it's not a consistent "rattle"). Might you have any advice for how to remedy the situation? Thanks in advance!

Mine is brand new 12000 BTU. Just put it in the window and it rattles even with all the face plates and filters removed. rattle is coming from the fan motor.

any idea how to fix this? having the same issue on my 8000 btu unit
@tombukt26 жыл бұрын
thats compressor rattle if the units too tight in the window it will amplify this noise Alot!. you do not want sashes squeezing the shiet outta metal cabinet. the cabinet SHOULD be mounted even with sash up off cabinet unit should stay put (screw holes in cabinet front bottom edge and larger units get angle bars) or outside mount kit

When you install it needs to tilt down a bit in the window to drain properly. You can put a piece of wood under it to get it tilt a bit then either buy a mount to help stabilise it if on the 2nd floor or a just a longer piece of wood or mount on the first floor.

Mine is 12000 and doesn't drop water and is not cool );
@CraigFromTheLand8 жыл бұрын
ana velasquez Is this a new unit? It could be that you have to prop it up more so that it drips outside the window, usually a piece of wood or cardboard will do just fine. If it's older you may need to clean it because the drain can get clogged.
@tombukt26 жыл бұрын
loook at mount area on unit wer side curtains slide in notice that the top and bottom wer curtain slides in is angled those bars top n bottom must be in window frame or sash to maintain lean angle much of the water is slung onto condenser coil you can hear droplets hitting the fan and being slung ..
