*great suggestion by fix it Felix* to manually advance the ice maker for test purposes, it is better to use a flat blade screw driver on the small gear COUNTER CLOCKWISE. Gently turn it until the ice maker continues on its own. It will make a full revolution and should fill with water. Thanks Felix.

!!Do not force it.!!.use a flat to turn the small gear counterclockwise.(.with power )it will rotate. Once you see the icemaker moving along stop turning screw..it will go through is functio s..(Without power) you can turn manually counterclockwise untill you get back around to test it

sir, can you please advise what the issue might be if when I turn the screw the gears do NOT start moving along by themselves? The gears do move smoothly, but I have to continually turn it with a screwdriver if I want them to move.

@@LulaPlays are you turning the screw counter clockwise...in many cases you have to turn about 1/4 of the way..the ice maker also needs to be ON ..SO THE ARM DOWN..and power is sometimes supplied by the light switch or a switch near the bucket...sometimes you have to turn the gears half way and hold switch down......another reason is make sure it's plugged In and the close the door...the ice maker has to be cold in order to operate...if it's too warm it won't rotate

This ice cube maker is genius as it celebrities 42 years since its introduction. But, it noisy, the freeze sensor fails (Round Metal Can Facing Cubes) won’t close, no heat and the gears move frozen cubes thru metal PTFE coated tray. It cost $20-$30 for a new one. Photo the ice cube maker number, fridge, print and place with filters and spare parts above fridge. Use dielectric silicone grease on electric wire connectors, a burn heater will do the same thing. If allowed to make noise, plastic gears can crack. My use inline filter and when changed, loose carbon particles can block water valve on back. This allows leakage when off causing cubes to cluster & freeze. Always drain water line with new filter into pans of 5 gallon bucket until clear. Best of luck!

Also... Try taking the icemaker out and cleaning the tray. I use vinegar or better still cleaning strength vinegar. remove the ice bucket for better access. Loosen, don't remove two 1/4 inch bolts that hold the icemaker to the side of the fridge. (Unplug the fridge if you are more comfortable) Unplug the electrical connection by squeezing two tabs on the side of the plug. Remove the ice maker from the fridge and then remove the one plastic cover held with a phillips screw. I let the tray soak for 15 minutes or so. You can feel the difference in the smoothness of the mold. We have fairly hard water where we are so it builds up on the mold and makes it harder for the ice maker to harvest the ice. Might have to do this every year or two depending on the water mineral content in your area. Easy no cost fix!

GREAT VIDEO! Parts are available on the internet. My fridge manual doesnt explain what the screw does for the ice maker, it left me guessing. See what happened to me is I used an after market filter because it was cheaper and I think wit the screw on its middle setting caused flooding and over sized freezing on the cubes, which caused the gears to work harder and broke teeth off the big catch gear when trying to push through over sized ice. I adjusted the cube size to the negative, and hope that will remedy the problem after I replace the gear.

Hi, thanks for the video. My ice maker does nothing. If the water inlet is blocked, would the motor still be turning? I also turned the auger manually but I didn't hear anything activating, no water came out. Any help is appreciated.

I bought an aftermarket ice maker for my 20 year old Sub Zero 690 (model FDI101S component type). I pulled the old one out, added the wiring harness adapter to the new one which extended the length of wire a lot. I installed the new ice maker and tucked the wiring harness behind the condenser not knowing it was in contact with the coil heater and melted some wires. The breaker tripped. Pulled out the new unit, fixed the wires but the unit does not seem to work. I tested the various things like holding and inlet switch, ejector motor and shut off switch. I turned the unit off for several minutes hoping the fridge resets but no luck. How do you bench test a component style ice maker? I tried to put power to the unit (pink is hot, white is neutral & tan is fill sensor is also hot I believe). I got nothing. Thanks!

David Howell hey, this is as close as I can find to what you’ve got: manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Anderson/240389640.pdf But, the wire colors do not appear to match what you’ve referenced. Perhaps the wore colors before the adapter are those colors? It appears black and red would run the motor with 120v, but you may need to manually advance the harvest fingers to kick it off.

@David Howell thanks very much for that. I have never tried removing the front panel on one of these, but once you get it apart, it might become very clear what the issue is. You could then ohm out the motor, switches, etc. I'm not sure they're able to come apart.... Well, I'm sure they come apart fine, it's the getting it back together that's the trick. LoL

I have the same model. I notice my maker's gears aren't moving even though the metal arm switch is in the down position. It only kicks on if I flick the arm...any suggestions?

juan reveles I hate the refrigerators with a passion. Between defrost drain line issues, defrost issues, and icemaker trouble - they are near the bottom of my list. But then, there is a lot of junk from every company right now it seems. Whirlpool single evaporator fridges (side by side) I feel like give the least troubles of the bunch. The washers have a lot of failed pumps, the top loads had a lot of trouble with being able to regulate spin speeds and had a recall for that. Again, I’m not a huge fan of many other choices either. Dryers have issues with the belt rollers, but have updated the pulley that now has a bearing and seem to be pretty good dryers all around. I wouldn’t recommend the dishwashers at all. I’m pretty much negative on most every single appliance made right now. Haha

First off people don't ever forward your ice maker using the arm that's how his tooth on his gear got broke I assume to begin with never ever ever do that advance it by rotating the motor gear itself counterclockwise if you wanna test it and send it through it's different switches water pump here the thermostat Oh yeah and on top of that the gear probably 10 bucks I'm not sure how to look at mine yet but parts are cheaper than the whole the whole parts of look into that too if you know a little bit about electronics and some skill you might be able to fix it yourself like I have never ever ever advanced with the with the arm thank you have a good day look at
