Which original, this song is way older than leadbelly or the animals , the earliest commercial versions were not recorded until the 1930s , it’s a very , very old song
@yeswolf1 Жыл бұрын
@@valley_robot This version of the lyrics is the one written by Eric Burdon for The Animals. Both versions kick ass. Recording and equipment had highly improved between The Animals version and the Frijid Pink version.

@@yeswolf1 The Animals version was not written by Eric Burdon, but by Alan Price. The keyboardist of the Animals. Most of the lyric from the Animal's version leaned on the rewritten version by Dave Van Ronk. Originally the song was a bout a girl who worked in a whorehouse. Later versions (including the Animal's) changed from a female perspective to a male perspective. The arrangement from the Frijid Pink version leans heavily on the Animal's version, but in my opinion is a totally different sound. And i love both versions...
@yeswolf1 Жыл бұрын
LOL. You clearly don't know the history of House of the Rising Sun or The Animals. Alan Price did not write the song. It is an old standard with a history reaching much further back than The Animals. The Animals arranged it together and Eric changed the lyrics to suit him. It was credited to Alan Price on the single only because his name had been listed first when the credits were given to the record company and on that 45, they decided there was only room for one name. It was supposed to be credited as "Arranged by" all five members of the band. Eric has talked about this what seems a million times. The worst part of the story is that Alan made all the royalties from that hit because the others were not listed on the 45 label and because Alan was incorrectly listed as if he was the writer. Writers earn royalties but arrangers and players do not -- industry standard. Everybody but Alan got screwed. Probably a good idea to know what you're talking about before you try to tell someone you don't know that they were wrong. I wasn't wrong, you were. @@Scarafax

@@yeswolf1 I never stated that Alan Price wrote the song, i said he made the biggest changes lyricswise for the Animals version. The exact origin and original author of the song is unknown, and the first recorded version is from 1933. However the first publishment of the lyrics comes from 1925. That publishment stated that it was a old sung, sung by miners in 1905. The lyrics from the Animals version are almost identital to the version from Dave Van Ronk, that rewrote a lot of the original lyrics. For the Animals version Alan Price did make the most changes lyricswise. Burdon only claimed he changed it to the male perspective. Those interviews are here on KZbin, go watch. And he stated he was the first to change it to the male perspective, however there are many earlier versions of House of the Rising Sun (or Rising Sun Blues, as it is also known) that already tells it from a male perspective, so that is not an invention from Burdon. His claim is false. For instance, the version from 1933 by Clarence Ashley tells it from a male perspective.

13-14 years old, southern Florida, first heard this blastin at the local neighborhood biker hangout. (Choppers parked all over the front yard) Never forgot it. Cant remember if we'd partaken of "the Devil's weed" that day. Far more devilish substances were available to young wayward girls on the streets of southern Florida, in those days. Lucky to have survived those times, all things considered. But I think we needed it then - the release from our minds, from our troubled realities, home lives, etc, & THIS MUSIC.

House Of The Rising Sun, лучшее исполнение от Frijid Pink!
@gregoriotumananjr.82022 күн бұрын
This is undoubtedly one of the best cover versions of "THE HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN." The Detroit rock band FRIJID PINK created a name for themselves in 1970 with their own psychedelic rendition of this timeless song, which peaked at number 4 in the UK and number 7 in the US. In contrast to the ANIMALS' 6/8 version, theirs was in 4/4 time (like VAN RONK's and most previous versions), and it was dominated by GARY RAY THOMPSON's distorted guitar with fuzz and wah-wah effects and RICHARD STEVERS' frantic drumming.
