I always get SO excited when KZbin tells me you’ve posted a new video! 😀 It’s always the highlight of my day. Even though my grandparents came to America from Sicily, they had both passed on just before and just after I was born so I never knew them or had their cooking. You are my link to learning the foods of my ancestors, my heritage. Thank you so much, Giovanna. 🙏🏻 I love you for it. 💕

Miss Giovanna and her sweet husband are such a blessing! Not only do we get to learn about her wonderful Sicilian heritage, but cooking tips and recipes that are scrumptious. I see a pair of helping hands during the food preparation. Is that a daughter, granddaughter, niece? Brings back such happy memories of my family working together in the kitchen. Even the most tedious tasks could be fun with good stories,and companionship.

Delicious! I went to Sicily in the spring of 1983 and had this combination of peas, fava and artichoke hearts in pasta with a simple olive oil dressing. Loved it. The delicate flavors each enhance the others.

Hello, Giovanna! My father is of Sicilian heritage, and he'll tell you that fava beans are his favorite. I think it's been decades since he's eaten any since they're not commonly found where we live. And, honestly, I've been intimidated by them because I didn't understand how to skin them. Thank you for showing us! The fried bread looks scrumptious. So difficult to find fava beans and I love them. I was introduced to them in the UK as "broad beans," where they are considered a real delicacy. Unfortunately I don't have a garden or I'd try to gro them.

The inner skin of the fave is edible, you can leave it or remove it, it’s good both ways.

Dear Rev. Anthony The vegetable I would substitute for the Fava Beans would be frozen Baby Lima Beans. Thank you for your comment about my nails. Someone didn’t approve of them, and 4 people came to my defense. There is justice in this world!

Don’t cut the artichoke in quarters, leave it whole and remove the choke with a spoon , then cut it in quarters
