Saw it today just 13 kilometers away from my home. It took me 34 years to make time, stop, and go watch it. It was ethereal and it somehow made my eyes moist with happiness, regret, profound sadness...for not taking time....for not going earlier. I was so stuck up on trying to be a doctor! The place is Kumbalangi at Kochi, Kerala.

I saw this near Byron Bay in the 90’s. Back in those days Byron was still very much undeveloped and was a magical place to be in Summer. This added to it. I didn’t realise it was so rare until now. So grateful to have experienced it.

May I ask which camera, lenses and set for video and photos? It’s really hard to get good photo and video for bio, even I searched a lot of way for this, even I tried many times on the dark beach. 😢
@FilippoRivetti Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s not easy and you need the best low light gear (for video especially!). I used a Sony A7S3 and Sigma 14mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.4
@SshadoxX Жыл бұрын
@@FilippoRivetti I appreciate you sharing information about the equipment you use.🥰👍🏻 It seems that your video contains some time-lapse photography and multiple still shots. Is that also using A7S3? Are you wide open? Is the ISO over 3200? I used the live view of the Canon 5D Mark IV in pitch darkness and focused manually, and maybe one out of a dozen shots managed to get in focus but was grainy. I couldn't get a clear close-up or record blue tear footage, which bothered me. I can't compose a shot using Live Photography. Light the area with a flashlight, get it in focus, but get out of focus for the actual shot. I've tried it in Jervis Bay in 2021 and this year at Fairhaven Red Tide on the Great Ocean Road and the results were always low quality. I tried to increase the ISO to 6400 or higher, so that I could shorten the shutter time and make the picture clearer, but the picture quality also became rough and loose, and it couldn't be very clean and detailed. I’m thinking it’s because my Canon 5D4 is no better than Sony’s mirrorless body with a large aperture lens to compose and focus in low-light environments, and the ISO doesn’t need to be too high, or even a high ISO can be very clean.😔
@FilippoRivetti Жыл бұрын
@@SshadoxX I also used a Canon 1DX2 for the timelapses. Always wide open and ISO also up to 12800 for video. Focusing at night is quite tricky indeed! For static shots on a tripod you can just set the focus once and you are fine. Unless you want to get a closeup of the bio, you can also set it to the hyper focal distance and leave it to that
@SshadoxX Жыл бұрын
@@FilippoRivetti Thank you for sharing the specific method. Although I don't know what you said about the hyperfocal distance you mentioned, I will study it. At least I know this technique's name and the learning starting point. Your selfless sharing, whether your videos or comments, makes the world better and allows others to succeed in filming them. ❤👍🏻

Can some ppl really believe that the ultimate origin of this beautiful universe is simply dumb ‘nothing’? Rather infinite ultimate reality is far complex than what we think. Allah is infinity! “O humanity! Obey your Lord, Who created you and those before you, so that you are saved. It is He Who has made the earth a resting-place for you, and the sky a canopy; and sends down rain from the sky, causing fruits to grow as a provision for you. So do not set up rivals to Allah (in obedience) when you know (the Truth).” Quran 2:21-22 “Do not the disbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were one joined-entity, then We parted them? And We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?” (Quran 21:30)
