A case can be made that Noel Gallagher is the best interview in music.......if not the best in the entire performing arts. A strong case.

What a genuine pleasure this was to watch. Often hilarious interview, and a glimpse of the band's first live performance outside of a little country named France. to add to the opinions of the other posters, I will say that I like Noel's voice more than I do Liam's but Liam did have many shining moments to his credit. Back when Oasis were huge, Liam used to fuck around a lot and sometimes refuse to sing. Noel took it in stride and made his fans proud by sounding fucking great on his own. Well done, Noel!!! To be quite honest, I don't miss Liam's asinine shenanigans in the least. LONG LIVE THE LEGEND that is NOEL GALLAGHER!!

I love Oasis to bits... but I don't think I'd like to see them have a reunion and play through the whole of What's the Story Morning Glory, it'd break my heart seeing Liam struggling at hitting the high notes in She's Electric, Some Might Say etc. Unless his voice has got back to a decent level again, of course. I haven't heard much of Beady Eye but at the end of Oasis it was quite atrocious to be honest.
@johnRFC187210 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, his voice has gotten even worse. Watch Beady Eye live at the 2013 T in the park or Ibiza Rocks from last year. The biggest issue with another tour will be Liam's voice is fucked after only a few shows.
@bellerophon309 жыл бұрын
***** You make a good point about age influencing singers as they get older. I remember listening to/watching Robert Plant during the Led Zeppelin Celebration Day concert, particularly during Stairway, and he just can't get to those notes anymore....and to his credit, he didn't try. He sang the entire song in a lower register, and it sounded great. Different, but great. With Liam, who knows, he was never a good singer, the wrong brother was the singer, it should have been Noel the entire time.
@halalburger2679 жыл бұрын
bellerophon30 Liam's sound defines Oasis, and he was a much better singer than Noel until around '98ish
@bellerophon309 жыл бұрын
***** You raise some great points, and the only way I can disagree is by simply saying that I just don't really dig the sound of Liam's voice. It's a matter of pure taste, and leaves aside all the other factors. Noel wrote great songs that would have been better served by a more skilled vocalist. It's an accident of course, one assumes that he wrote the lyrics to bend to his brother's talents, but it's true, for me. Noel's solo album is better, for me, than his Oasis stuff primarily because I'd rather listen to him than Liam, even though nothing on it is as good as Wonderwall or Supersonic (or my sneaky favorite Lyla). But I do concede your other points. What I would love to know is the reason that Beady Eye broke up, one wonders if Liam's solo record will be available sometime in the next year or so.
@theselector47339 жыл бұрын
bellerophon30 Apparently from some of Noel's latest interviews Liam's given up the "music game" & is concentrating on Pretty Green and that Beatles movie he was producing. I think it's probably a good decision as sales for BE were atrocious, actually sold less than DGSS, which is hard to believe but true unfortunately. They broke up coz they just weren't a "going concern" business wise......in other words making a loss financially. I've seen both Beady Eye and NGHFB's live in the same venue in Sydney and there's absolutely no doubt who the better band was/is........Noel's concert was INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I had NG withdrawal symptoms for 3 - 4 days afterwards. Liam was in good form but their songs just didn't cut it. I agree with u regarding Liam as a vocalist.....he was never really a "classic" rock vocalist say in the style of Freddie Mercury, Roger Daltry, Elvis or Robert Plant.....he never had the range or technique and in some instances his vocals were quite whiney, nasally and frankly annoying.......but for him it was more about the 'style', snarl & swagger rather than the technique. He comes more from the school of Johnny Rotten, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Neil Young etc.....in other words not great vocalists but had a certain individual style and "sound" that was all their own and made them stand out from the crowd.

The celtic team has been made up of players from England, Scotland, Wales, Greece, Israel, Kenya, Japan...I'm quite sure their sympathies do not lie with the ira!! "1% decent Irish." The majority of Irish people do not support the ira. Its like saying all English people are football hooligans!! When football gets caught up in politics, most people are not interested, they just want to see their team win. Its 2013, not the seventies or the eighties.
