How long did u wait from painting below the tape with the top color to dry before painting bottom

We waited until the next day but the longer you wait the better. The tape won't peel the paint off the longer it can cure.

We tried the laser level a couple of times and it wasn't accurate, so we switched to using the pencil instead.

Hi there. If I am painting a wall that was painted years ago (light gray) and then I want the bottom half to now be dark green do I still did to dig up my light gray and repaint over the tape before the green? It's the color that's currently and has been on my walls. Also for taping is it best to keep one continuous piece of tape as much as possible? What do you do for the corners? Try to keep the tape going and press it in?
@MakingManzanita Жыл бұрын
yes, if you can get ahold of the old paint color, I would highly recommend the method of painting over the seam of the tape. It is worth it. Yes, try to use as much as a continuous piece of tape as possible. Just press the tape into the corners as much as you can (you can use a ruler or putty knife too) and then keep going.

This looks amazing - I’m going to do this in my spare bedroom using black on the lower half. How long did you leave the white to dry before taping with the yellow frog tape? And when you did the white over the frog tape, how long did you leave that to dry before starting the green? Thanks heaps!!

Hi there, we left the white paint to dry until it was dry to the touch...probably an hour or two.

I was wondering, how did you remove the pencil line you drew to help marking the tape. Super handy video btw!
@MakingManzanita4 жыл бұрын
The pencil mark was covered up by paint. When you're putting the tape down, just be sure to align it on the top of the line so the line gets painted over.

I now have super straight lines in-between the colours with an ugly pencil line in-between 👍

How many gallons of green and how many white did you use? Asking because my room is similar in size
@MakingManzanita2 ай бұрын
We used 1 gallon of white, for primed walls 1 gallon of top of the line green, but if its a fresh coat/cheaper paint get 2 gallons. Our ceilings are only 7 and a half feet tall so we don't have as much to cover.
@TROUBLEDAGREAT2 ай бұрын
Thank you, yes my ceiling is 7 & ½ feet as well, and really close to same size room, didn't want to buy too much paint, nor run out . I did the math based off paint manufacturers recommended coverage. But was skeptical. Thank you, your room looks amazing! Great color choice!

Does the bottom paint have to be dry before u remove the tape?
@jhilt9011 ай бұрын
No. Sooner you remove it the better, to prevent peeling the paint off whilst removing the tape
@djpaulsid11 ай бұрын
@jhilt90 but let it dry berween coats I'm assuming
@jhilt9011 ай бұрын
@@djpaulsid once it’s had the required coats, I tend to remove it straight away. Saves it being on the wall any longer than it needs to, causing it to pull paint off with the tape

Yes, this... let the coats dry appropriate time in between coats and then after last coat, remove immediately.
@pollyb29764 жыл бұрын
Hiya nice colour. I presume you did two coats of the green. Did you not remove the tape inbetween coats? Otherwise it dries 😏
@MakingManzanita4 жыл бұрын
Yes, we did two coats of green. Yes the paint dries in between coats, but there's something about removing it when the top coat has just been painted that helps with that crisp line.
@kathrynswalwell21074 жыл бұрын
@@MakingManzanita sorry your response to this comment isn’t very clear, did you do one coat of paint, then remove the frog tape before doing the second coat of paint or at the very end? If you did it at the very end does that mean you did the second coat when the first coat hadn’t fully dried? I’m new to painting so not sure how long to leave it before a second coat
@MakingManzanita4 жыл бұрын
@@kathrynswalwell2107 2 coats of green paint. Leave the tape on until the end. Wait about 2 hours between coats and then remove the tape right after you're done with the second coat while the paint is still wet.

Hi! Why did you paint the underline of the tape with white first and than the green? Can't you just do it with the green paint?
@MakingManzanita4 жыл бұрын
The paint block technology of the FrogTape is activated by latex in the paint, so if you first paint over the bottom side of the tape with the 1st color it will help essentially "seal" the paint line. This will you'll prevent the paint from bleeding under the tape due to texture and any other imperfections in your wall. It's definitely worth the extra time to do this step!

How did your husband get such a smooth line on the baseboard where the green meets without painting over? Noticed there wasn't tape, but did you guys use a edger or something like that?? Or just very steady hands? 😂
@MakingManzanita3 жыл бұрын
Steady hand, good paint brush and lots of practice! We have a whole KZbin video and blog post in the works with so more tips coming soon!
@sorayananji68013 жыл бұрын
Have a good cutting in brush like a Picasso, wipe the access paint from on the outiside bristles of the brush back into the bucket, then just allow the brush to do the work for you as you angle the brush. You don't need particularly steady hands or a lot of experiance, just practice in one medium sized room, and you'll get good by the end.

Good idea but that green color is so 90s. It’s a strange color for a bedroom wall especially. I guess what matters is that you are happy with it. That Forrest green color isn’t ready for a come back yet.

@@katyparker2081 I love a good retro moment but only if there’s a twist. Forrest green with a touch of blue, let’s say. However, full on Forrest green exactly the same shade as every interior in the 90s is haunting. It’s a color that has made a comeback but I’m not here for it, especially in a bedroom.
