A true comic genius. A star among a comedy breed so missed today. Over twenty years the counrty has lost genuine funny people. Thank God they survive on youtube. Thanks fior posting. An interview with Keneth Williams is fantastic.

Tommy lived a few doors away from me in the 1970s when I lived in my flat in Chiswick.. always said hello and he often had a drink in back room of local pub. Just as crazy in reality as on stage.!!

I heard that he was doing a live show. The lights went down and a voice announced, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr Tommy Cooper.' Then they heard Tommy sighing and making various noises. Then steps could be heard coming down stairs. By now the audience was in hysterics, and he hadn't even appeared on the stage. The word genius doesn't cover this great man.

No comic has ever made me laugh as much as Tommy Cooper. Impeccable timing from a true comic genius. Without a doubt he was and is widely loved for his silly trademark humor and he never swore unlike today's bland and not so funny 'comedians.'

Some1 I know said when he went to see him he just stood infront of a little gate on the stage telling jokes and everybody was wondering what the gate was for cos he never mentioned it all way through the performance and at the end he just walked through the gate and off the stage laughing! Absolutley different class!

Tommy Cooper - this interview is why I like him so much, a brilliant magician and yet so crazy. The Parkinson show is where you go to be "yourself", so Tommy took his fez off and carried on being the same - that was as close to himself as he would go on tv...

The reason we voted Brexit was so Tommy could get his fez back!
@Antraeus
@Antraeus 4 жыл бұрын
Yes but the reason he got his fez back was Boris borrowed 'Bret Sit!' for a few hours to impress...Doris...and couldn't afford to pay him back. Or so the story goes. How do you explain that? Anyway, I thought it was a Welsh dragon hat. Those were the days, when all we knew about another culture was the kind of hat they might wear when they're up for a bit of leg-pulling. Or in the bath. And it was completely divorced from reality. And just a bit of fun really.

I watched his last moments on TV, live on stage at her Majesties theatre. He had only just come on, wearing a huge golden smock like costume and suddenly and slowly, sank to the floor in a crouched position, and fell backwards. I, and the audience thought it was part of his act and started laughing. The curtains were eventually drawn together, but Tommy was too far forward to be covered. So The shows introducer, JImmy Tarbuck , pulled the Curtains around Tom. The show went straight into adverts,, despite there being one only a few minutes ago. He died back stage of a massive heart attack. I think the video is on KZbin.

you get the feeling that parky was impatient at tommy`s refusal to do a straight intererview and instead surround himself with props. however, like many a cooper audience, despite himself, he ends up in total hysterics, at one stage and tommy is as funny as ever. never saw parky convulsed in so much laughter before or after.

There was only one, a friend of mine was at the fatefull show where he died, he knew him, Tommy gave him a gift one Christmas, a box of matches.. on the outside it had a fez, a cane and top hat etc, on the inside of the box it said STOLEN FROM TOMMY COOPER. even a box of his matches could make us laugh. now he makes us cry, because he is gone, gone but never forgotten. Rest with the Angels oh King of Laughter. ah hahhahahaaaa
