Frogging Walleyes (A First Attempt)

I've heard it done, but I've never tried it...catching walleyes on frogs. So, I set out to try it myself, but not before I went on a frog hunt to catch my own bait! All I can say is I didn't get skunked.

My best day of walleye fishing on a small river was in November. 2 man limit and many more released. All we cleaned were full of small frogs

I believe it, I just need to try again when I can actually find a walleye to bite at all! Bad timing on this lake unfortunately.

Many years ago I read a book my Babe Winkleman, I think it was called Walleye patterns. It had a chapter on using frogs for bait for walleye fishing. My memory which isn’t good says it was a fall pattern.

I believe that, and yeah, fall seems like the best time, though maybe they can snag a few on the way out in spring?

Interesting! I caught a fish couple weeks ago with 3 frogs in the belly. Must hunt them all winter.
